Favorite adult beverages on a cruise???

Love the Alchemy Bar on Carnival. The Breeze just got this bar installed on their recent upgrade. So, I'm eager to try it out next month. Alchemy is basically a gin and vodka martini bar with all sorts of twists and a pharmacy theme. They had this on the Triumph and Freedom. What is your favorite bar or beverage category?

This sounds crazy, but for me Cheers is an anxiety control mechanism. If I don't buy it, I will feel regret every time I order a drink. With Cheers, I will say "what difference does it make?" and enjoy. Cheap psychological trick.

It is a windy day here. Alison (DW) hurt her back while exercising and is on bedrest with a lot of pain right now. She is worried how she will make the trip. It is 15 days away, so there is time to heal. I'm hoping for the best.

If I remember correctly, yes. I had champagne by the glass at dinner. Actually the DH's purchases were enough for his part of the Cheers package, but we figured our total bill not individual. I had intended to have more special coffees, but it I somehow forgot to stop there.

Cruising June 25 to July 2 on the Breeze to Jamaica, GC, Cozumel. Then the next scheduled cruise is November 17 of 2018 on the Valor to Progreso/Cozumel. We are going to retire in June of 2019 so i'm planning to do the Honduras, Belize, Cozumel itinerary in September when it is less expensive. Thanks for your advice on the Cheers package. If we find it to be a bad deal, we will not repeat. However, just our pre-dinner cocktail, two wine selections, and post dinner cordial by itself adds up to $40.00. I think it will be a good value at least for me. DW will have to decide for herself. Can you see your cheers purchases on your final bill?

Our next two cruises are on Carnival. We sail Dec. 2nd on the Vista to celebrate one of my "milestone" birthdays. Then on the Conquest Jan. 20th for the 3rd annual "Rennie" cruise (a small group of people with connections through the Renaissance community). I think we'll let someone else plan the 4th annual Rennie cruise. We chose it because of the 3 day holiday for many (saving vacation days) and the low base rate for those on limited income.

How about you? What's next?

AuntPink:

I feel you are right. I found a chart that shows the break-even point. If you factor in everything that you might drink, it has to at least break even. When is your next cruise and which lines are you trending towards now?

No need to drink that much! Remember specialty coffee and soda are part of the package. Part of the reason we didn't drink enough to break even was, we went to a few gatherings with free drinks so we didn't factor those into calculation. You'll break even long before you get to 15.

I will see how it goes. I can handle a few drinks, but I am not sure if we will keep pace with 15 drinks per day. That's a heap of booze!

I like free!!!

We bought the cheers package this past January. For us it was close, but Carnival made about $80 on us. I also noticed I drank more than usual... i tried a lot of new things, but not so much that it will be worth our while to purchase it again.

Hope everyone is having a great day!
