I am cruising on the Carnival Elation March 10-15 and as we are getting closer to time the weather forecast is showing rain/thunderstorms every day. Has anyone else had this problem or experienced bad weather on port days in the Bahamas? Did you still get off the ship to experience the port of call? What is there to do on the ship (or personal suggestions of things to do in your cabin) during inclement weather? TIA!

Bad Weather

We always pack an umbrella and 99 cent ponchos. We will venture out if the winds aren’t terrible. Look forward to the adventure!
Consider bad weather to be an extra unexpected adventure and enjoy it. Getting a bit wet in a warm tropical climate is not a bad thing.
We do pretty much the same things in rain or shine. We bring an umbrella (had to buy one the first time). Being from Colorado, rain is always cold. The first time we got caught in the rain in the Caribbean, I was so surprised that it was warm. Just keep in mind, they don't call them rain forests for nothing.
Just be sure to pack an umbrella.
We've been rained on in ports several times - just roll with the punches and have a great time.
We have experienced periods of rain, but never a total washout. In our experience, it's like Florida--mostly the rain comes and goes pretty quickly.
Most, if not all of us, have experienced bad weather. It happens. If you must stay on the ship, fear not. There should be plenty to do. Cruise directors shine in bad weather.
