With all the concerns about over weighted bags on air planes, have you ever purchased a hand held luggage scale for vacations? Do you bring it on cruises?

Do You Ever Bring a Hand Held Luggage Scale on a Cruise?

Having read about this when posting about being charged recently for an overweight bag, I did purchase one and intend to bring it!
I gave these out as gifts to my family member who travel often. They all used them regularly.
I have one now, after having to play move things around because I was a couple of pounds over!
My last five US flights were not only "weight conscious" but literally no leeway whatsoever. I was shocked at how strict they have become. I did purchase a scale that I am taking on my next flight/cruise.
Yes... it is also a flashlight.

Luggage weight becomes more of an issue when traveling internationally where air travel luggage weight limits tend to be lower than in the US. This wasn't something I was aware of until trips to Australia and So. Africa where 40 lbs was the limit on intra-country travel. Packing for business/pleasure for a 3+ wks trip and keeping it under 40# was challenging. It meant most of my purchased items had to go into my carry-on so my one checked bag was within the limit.
I highly recommend bring a dual-purpose hand-held scale. Recommend checking out Magellan.com, a site which features travel-friendly gadgets, clothing, and useful supplies (no, that is not an advertisement; I have no personal/professional connection to this company.)
Always
No. I don't use a luggage scale. If I can lift it, it is under 50 pounds!
We bring a small one along if we’ll be flying home. Works great!
I got one for my last cruise since it was one of the rare times we flew. Accuracy was within 1/2 pound -- not bad for a Chinese made Wal-Mart special
Yes, we take ours with us. Very lightweight and it weighs within a pound of the airline scale.
Not usually as we do not usually fly.
