There were several best parts to the holiday cruise. The itinerary was very good because we visited a number of smaller and less traveled islands. The service and food were excellent on the ship. All of the shore excursions were purchased through HAL and were well worth the money. The Prinsendam is a small ship by today's standards, but we found it to be a better experience than the bigger options. Due to the age of the ship, the furnishings are somewhat worn and should be replaced. We never felt crowded or rushed and fellow passengers tended to be more polite than we have experienced in the past.
Just okay. Got out of town but schedule too hurried.
Very nice tour and was informative about the history of the island. Carambola is a large secluded beach on St Kitts. We visited this twice. Both calls were tendered and Seabourn hosted a wonderful BBQ meal that included lobster, ribs, etc. This stop is about a 15 minute drive to Basseterre by taxi.
No excursion. Most everything closed on Sunday. Enjoyed cold beer and a meal.
Seabourn Ovation
It’s a little pricey but well worth the expense. Due to the size of the ship the ports of call were mostly smaller and less commercially intense islands. We consider that a big advantage. Since Barbados was the departure and return port there are significant challenges to getting there and returning home. This was a significant hassle and expense that cannot be avoided and is partially due to airline connections.
Port Elizabeth, Bequia, Grenadines
Great exposure to indigenous culture on the excursion.
Got out of town. Visited Clement rum distillery and enjoyed a meal prepared by a local chef in Trois-Îlets. Wonderful experience!
Expensive hotels and ground transportation.
Another great experience of local culture.
Ran into inclement weather.
Volendam
Great older ship.
Nice tour of Harrison Cave.
Did an all day tour and saw interesting sites and learned about the history. The driver was held up at one of the stops and drove dangerously in an attempt to get back to the port on time. Some concerned passengers asked him to slow down several times. Too much driving between stops (sometimes 45 minutes to 1 hour) and would definitely not recommend if one is prone to motion sickness.
Took a ride on the old sugarcane railroad and returned by sea. Highly recommend this tour. It was a wonderful way to see and hear about the history of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Excellent small tour of the interior of the island.
It is painfully obvious that the lack of tourism has had a significant impact on the island.
Outstanding walking tour of the city. Beach was our guide. He has studied the history of his island and is wealth of information about its history.
Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic
Not much to do at the tourist shops surrounding the dock in Amber Cove. Strongly suggest getting away from there and visiting the Puerto Plata. Unfortunately, none of the offered tours were of interest to us because we had previously taken some of them.
Had a wonderful guide on a walking tour.
Nieuw Statendam
It’s an excellent ship. No more lounge chairs or teak outside the promenade deck and some walking spaces are pretty narrow.
Margaritaville………….
