We booked excursions to both Berlin and to St. Petersburg through SPb tours, and we were very happy. We got a discount by booking both excursions through them, and they were less expensive than the HAL tours to start with. Great guides.

The last tour Wonderful Copenhagen with transportation to airport is good if you did not get any time to see Copenhagen before.

Skilled captain but old ship - get a balcony room on the port side. The reality of the trip is that you really do not have any time in Copenhagen - you get in late in the evening and leave by mid morning the next day. We stayed over as flights so we had 3/4 day and really enjoyed open canal tour

Zuiderdam is one of four Vista-class Holland America ships built in the early 2000s with less than 2000 passengers, so the ship is comfortable, not jammed with 3,000 or more as do some other ships of the same size. We met lots of folks, Australians, Canadians sharing Lido table at Breakfast or Lunch

Aft cabins are well situated for easy access to dining options but a bit of a walk for entertainment and excursions. Pinnacle Grill for lunch is a good option at a good price. Adagio is a great entertainment option. Unlimited laundry is a great deal and you can get a better price if you pre-buy.

Take a small carry on with necessary items you may need before going to your suite. And take along your own DVD's if you like a night time movie. Ship movies may not work! Also, be aware that every time you open a bottle of water a new one will replace it and you will be charged for it.

The on-board restaurant (requires a reservation) was outstanding. The food was as good as I've ever had, in any restaurant. Service was outstanding as well. A must-do!

When announcements are made over the intercom system you might ask people to listen so you can hear people just kept on talking and you couldn't understand what the cruise director is saying
