Review summary

The seas were calm and the weather was warm and sunny for most of the trip. It was nice to sit in on of the deck chairs on the promenade deck and read a book and watch the ocean go by. Very relaxing cruise.

The Pianist, comedian and the magician were all great! Unfortunately Holland America has done away with the ships singers and dancers and the great shows that they performed, which was always the highlight entertainment on every cruise. I don't know what corporate was thinking! Obviously in our opinion they weren't thinking too clearly.

We just love Costa Rica. And if you go there be sure to check out the small sales bazaar right at the port gate. The vendors are very friendly and courteous! No high pressure sales tactics and most of the goods that were for sale were made by the locals. Very impressed with that.

We like this itinerary so much that we booked again for next year same time. It will be our 5th time there. 4 times on the Zuiderdam and once on the Volendam. We love Costa Rica too.

We like to be on the lower decks while going through the locks. You can see so much more detail and really get the feel of the rise and fall of the ship as you go through. There are actually tunnels in the walls that you can look into as you go through.
