Enjoyed this relaxing quiet cruise very much. If you want peace and quiet choose HAL. Entertainment isnt that good though so if thats your thing or lots of kids and waterslides are your thing reconsider them strongly. If good food, slower crowd and relaxation are your thing for a holiday pick HAL.

Ship tip

Good ship, good crew, great food! Did this back to back from oasis of the seas. Food much better on HAL, entertainment much better on RC. Smaller and easier to get around fast. More personal experience on HAL, like the relaxing pace of older quieter crowd. Not as much "fun" in ways but we came to relax and be up all night so will do HAL again.

When I say two sessions I meant over two different days. The meet n greet was on a 3rd day.

Yes heard and saw the Island Steel Band and they were excellent (an all time favorite for my father). They played two sessions both in the Main Stage (formerly known as Vista Lounge). They also did a meet and greet session between gigs where you could ask questions and get an autographed DVD.

My wife and I did the Zuiderdam last year and found the entertainment to be excellent. It wasn’t as lively, loud or way out as you may find on say a Carnival cruise but it was very professional and enjoyable. You are so correct regarding the food and other aspects of the cruise line. We are exploring various cruise lines and so far HAL has our vote in the “reasonably” priced category.
