A mediocre cruise on a tatty ship with only two good ports

Sail Date: October 17, 2014

Reviewed: 2 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

First of all the ship is overdue a refurbishment, it's tatty with rust everywhere, dirty broken life boats, broken railings, etc. The interior, everywhere you look something is broken, chairs and sofas are broken and need replacement.  Our cabin had a broken door lock, a toilet that didn't flush properly and smelled, and our TV was too dark and needed adjustment.

The help was good the food was decent but, not great.  The "Baked Alaska" was pathetic.  The entertainment was so so, except for the classical duet, they we're great.

Ship Quality
Ship was overdue a refurbishment and was very rusty, with broken railings, hinges, and the lifeboats we're broken and ratty.
Food and Dining
Not great, the Baked Alaska was pathetic.
Cabin / Stateroom
Tatty, with a broken door lock, a toilet that stank and only flushed some time, a shower that didn't drain and a TV that was way too dark.
Service and Staff
The one shining star on this cruise
Entertainment
Bad except for the Classical duet and the gutiarist. The classisal duo should have played in the dinning room during dinner.
Onboard Activities
Liked the library and the puzzles.
Destinations and Excursions
The Canal and Curacao we're great. There was too much travel time between ports. You could have added perhaps Key West on the return voyage to break up the three days at sea.
Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida
If you have extra time in this port eat at the "Bimini Boatyard", only a few miles from the port.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
Drink rum in the Captain Morgan pirate ship. It always has a good breeze.
Oranjestad, Aruba
Needs a improved waterfront...good shopping.
Willemstad, Curacao
A wonderful place to visit. Great shoppingand a bit like europe.
Enter Panama Canal At Cristobal
Cruise Gatun Lake (Inside Panama Canal)
Cruise Gatun Lake (Inside Panama Canal)
Cruise Gatun Lake And Panama Canal
Exit Panama Canal At Cristobal
Colon, Panama
Puerto Limon, Costa Rica
Horrible industrial port. Bad tours unless you love bananas.

Tip

The chairs in the "Crows Nest" were the most comfortable. We also liked playing cards with friends to pass the time.
