The ship & crew were A-1. Mother Nature sucked! We had a great cruise, it was our misfortune to be scheduled to arrive in Yokohama the same day as typhoon Hagibis.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
As expected, the food was great & plentiful. Now the diet starts.

Ocean Bar

4 out of 5

Comfortable seating. Our favourite lounge

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Dr PK Kam entertained us with talks on Japanese history & culture and led daily TaiChi sessions. He was terrific. Chef Dawn was great in the America’s Test Kitchen - lots of fun & informative. I picked up a lot of tips in the Microsoft Studio. Although the 2 pools were not as big as we had on our Princess cruise they were adequate. Also the larger one had a retractable roof to keep out of nasty weather. The fitness ctr was well equipped & I never had to wait for a station.

Lido Pool

4 out of 5

Comfortable deck area, one side of the pool has tables/chairs, the other chais lounges (only about 14, have to get there early to get one), no current machine for resistance swimming in the pool which would be a good feature as the pool is not that big. The retractable roof can be opened for nice weather or sheltered when cold or stormy

Aft Pool

On the small size

Cabin / Stateroom

This cruise we had a balcony stateroom. It was great & I can’t see us ever going back to an interior room.

Rained the entire day. Went to the Mendenhall glacier, rain forest preserve & museum. All were worth the trip. Too bad we never saw any sun

Cross International Dateline

3 out of 5
Nothing special. It was hard remembering what day it was, except the carpets in all elevators showed the day of the week & were changed daily

Kushiro, Japan

5 out of 5

Hakodate, Japan Did not visit port

To avoid typhoon Hagibis we had to skip this port. Th e captain altered course sailing down the west coast of Japan to the Kanmon strait then up to Yokohama following behind the storm

Yokohama (Tokyo), Japan

4 out of 5
Our itinerary included 2 nights/3days in Tokyo. With the delay at sea, we had to cancel 2 of our excursions. We still enjoyed our stay in the city & would like to return one day. We found a greatramen shop across the street from the Shinagawa station
