Nice Escape from the Hustle of Daily Life

Sail Date: August 13, 2016

Reviewed: 3 months ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Suite

It is great not to have to worry about what to cook for a week. In addition, it is very nice to have someone come in and straighten up the beds, bathroom, and tidy up the room. You get a taste of what it must be like to have a live in maid/butler at your beck and call 24 hours a day. Great, short, getaway.

Cabin / Stateroom
I really liked the size of this room compared to a Veranda cabin from a previous cruise. The Signature Suite had enough space for 2 people to walk around without bumping into each other and the bathroom was spacious. We had room service and ate in the room a couple of times and it was big enough for our neighbors to join us (4). There were 2 desk spaces and plenty of drawers & closet space for our clothes and luggage. Very nice ocean view balcony with 2 lounge chairs & a table w/2 chairs. I'll stick to this bigger size cabin from now on.

Food and Dining
Some of the selections in the "sit down" Vista Restaurant were very good. However, I was not too impressed with the taste of the food from the Lido buffet.
Seattle, Washington
If you want to experience Seattle, plan on arriving at least a day or two early or stay a day or two after the cruise.
Juneau, Alaska
Cruise Glacier Bay
Sitka, Alaska
Ketchikan, Alaska
This particular cruise allowed very little time in Ketchikan.
Victoria, British Columbia
Due to engine trouble, we were quite delayed in the arrival time to Victoria. We had about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to try and see some sights.

Tip

Just a general comment about cruising. Be prepared to pay a hefty price for everything not served in the buffet or "free" restaurant(s). The food for room service is "free" but there is a $13.50 service charge every time you order. So, be careful if you want a little midnight dessert, etc.
