Review summary
This was our first cruise in over 20 years so we are definitely novice cruisers. The stateroom was as we expected, although the bed was larger than we thought it would be (seemed to be a King size). The staff were friendly, especially the Show Host and Librarian. We enjoyed the food; we ate at the Lido Buffet more often than the Dining Room because we didn't want to dress up for formal night and they served some of the same food at the buffet. The entertainment was not high quality, in my opinion. We liked participating in the Trivia and Name That Tune contests. The city of Juneau was just OK, although we enjoyed visiting the Mendenhall Glacier (got bus ride on our own.) Sitka and Ketchikan were charming towns and nice to walk around in. Glacier Bay was wonderful-highly recommended. The size of the Westerdam (1800 passengers?) was good for us. Never had to wait for an elevator or to get off the ship. One negative was The Crow's Nest being closed for a private party almost every day. We felt that the cruise line was catering to one specific group on the ship and could have used a different location for the private party.

Ship tip
Deck 3 was perfect for walking since it was covered but open to the outside.
