I went on this cruise because I wanted to go to the Panama Canal. I did not know Holland America cruises are tailored to the elderly. The excursions were great. Everything else - food, drink, services, etc were typical of any other cruise line.

The ship had so much trouble with stabilization. The rocking was miserable. Activities were cancelled and the weather was not the problem. Problems with air too. I know people that slept with cabin doors open due to heat. We were given a fan.

Decent itinerary…interesting. Many of the ports I haven’t been to.

5 stars ! review says less its a glitch.awsome ship design (a bit dated,but that added to the vibe in a great way) easy to get around and quite efficient a good feeling ship. clean and well maintained ship. I have been several ships and the quality of the service on the volendam is unmatched. the small size of the ship adds to the experience. the crew and passengers become friends very quickly and call you by your name. great experience 10 days is not enough.

A very nice way to get to know the Amazon river and its huge forests, in an area bigger than Western Europe.

Excellent itinerary. With the exception of two days, the weather and seas made it a wonderful experience. The staff on the Volendam was outstanding as usual. There were issues with the specialty restaurants that we have not experienced in many past voyages with HAL. For example, in some cases food was cold/barely warm and on one occasion not edible. Sometimes service tended to be very slow. It seemed that there weren’t sufficient numbers of staff. Management issues involving the main office in Seattle were painfully slow and required far too much passenger scrutiny to assure the accuracy of their responses.

This double Holiday Cruise was a good Southern Caribbean value on Holland America’s vintage Volendam. The services crew was excellent and attentive with a responsive Front Office for any problems. The lack of production shows left a vacuum, but it was filled by the specialty stage shows, Lincoln Center Stage, and Billboard Onboard. Bar Service and Food and Beverage/Dining was excellent. The combo every night at the Ocean Bar put the icing on the cake and Robbie, the Las Vegas act was the tympany. Thank you Volendam Officers and Crew!

It was nice to get away for the holidays. The ship was decorated beautifully, and Santa Claus came on Christmas morning and gave each child a gift. Wonderful memories!

Choice of movies could be better; and more novels in the library.

We really enjoyed this cruise and it knocked one of those things off of our bucket list. It was certainly an adventure. Between the tender issues, running aground on the river and our fabulous eco lodge tour, it will be a cruise that we'll never forget.

The cruise was great for relaxing and visiting some of our favorite beaches in the Caribbean. We were fortunate because the weather was perfect each day.

As mentioned earlier this ship was on a relocation cruise headed for dry dock in the Bahamas. Service may have been curtailed because of this. They did the best they could but the trip was still enjoyable. There was a good variety of shore excursions available. The temperature of the ship was colder than was necessary.

I would take the same cruise on the same ship again! HAL did not disappoint! Don't go on a larger ship because you won't be able to get into Glacier Bay! Can't wait to go on our next HAL cruise! Bermuda again? Canada/New England?

It was such a wonderful cruise, our first, but I hope not our last. It was more casual than I expected and I was disappointed that the gala nights weren’t more gala and that the dining room wasn’t fancier and didn’t have live music and dancing, at least on gala nights. My Aunt used to cruise a lot with Holland and it was different then.

Not happy about the service charges. Would be nice if crew was paid a living wage. Come to find out that the service charges are shared by all and not the person or persons providing the service.

We had good times this cruise. We like to spend more times each ports. Some ports was short times.

the ship and staff were very good. it was nice to have a movie theater as they did years ago

Good cruise however the tender ports were unacceptable delays and service was very slow in the dining.
