This trip had the best food in the main dining rooms of all cruises we’ve had, with Holland American: variety, taste, presentation and a highlight on the dessert menu with options sugar free and lactose free: the sugar free desserts were all excellent.
The Pinnacle Grill at Volendam is a must, the food is always excellent and worth the price.
The have it all package was worthwhile in value and quality.
Onboard Activities

Gym was very good. The disappointment came from the steam sauna package: One of the rooms was completely shutdown for the entire trip, and several days the steam sauna was cold and generating steam. We have complained to the Spa manager and he tried his best but he was unable to get maintenance to fix it. At the end of the cruise the central swimming pool was green, and it was very evident. We were informed that the ship would sail again on the same day we’ve arrived, and I think the steam sauna would continue to not work properly.

There were some very good shows: The Knights were excellent, Comandeur Dutch singer, the Vollendam band was outstanding on the evenings at the Ocean bar.
The very negative surprise was that the Volendam did not have at their Sports Bar the football World Cup games: Everyone in the crew (top down), plus the Artists, and all Sport lovers were absolutely appalled by HAL decision not to have it onboard. It forced me to buy a personal streaming package, and upgrade my WI-FI package, but then the worse surprise was that the WI-FI at the Volendam simply does not work, even when you are sitting under the routers. This was the biggest disappointment of this trip, and I am afraid that the ship is back sailing with no reasonable WI-FI.

Mr. Endras waiter and Mr.Dody assistant waiter at the mains dining made our trip dining experience outstanding: attention to the details, courteous and very nice.
At the Pinnacle Grill the waiter Agus is outstanding, as well as the Head waiter Dadam who made all our specialty dining nights a success.
Candy as room steward also excellent, our cabin was very clean, everyday.
Ship Quality

Ship design is somewhat old and it shows, but the cleanliness of both cabins and public areas were fantastic. You could find a blocked stall due to maintenance on the public areas but everything else was clean as a five star restaurant.

The large oceanview room was a very good surprise: bigger than a lot of Balcony cabins in other cruise lines, very comfortable, lots of wardrobe space, and a bathroom with an upgraded and roomy tempered glass shower, excellent.
