Review summary

I would take the same cruise on the same ship again! HAL did not disappoint! Don't go on a larger ship because you won't be able to get into Glacier Bay! Can't wait to go on our next HAL cruise! Bermuda again? Canada/New England?

Embarkation

Very efficient process!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
As usual, Pinnacle was excellent! Order the clothesline bacon! FUN! Lido was on par. However, the bacon in the morning was sometimes not cooked enough. We did not eat in the main dining room much but what we had was good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Christine the Nature Host was a great addition to the trip. She did several "wildlife spotting" events on deck which was fun and helpful!

Entertainment

Did not attend shows

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

Volendam staff did not disappoint. Cabin stewards were excellent, attentive and called us by name!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We love the smaller ships! Ship was in good shape for an old gal!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Large cabin with plenty of storage space! We enjoyed having the balcony and are now afraid we won't be able to cruise again without one! A must for Alaska!

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Did not spend much time here but what we saw was beautiful and clean! Nice people, also!

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

7 days of unbelievable scenery!

Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska Did not visit port

Engine issue so could not go as fast as they wanted to...did not get there in time

Juneau, Alaska

I missed my whale watching excursion due to engine issue. I was disappointed but they immediately credited me back (good reason to book with cruise line) and also gave everyone on board $100 on board credit for arriving in Juneau 2 hours late. I thought that was generous. Plus, we saw humpback whales while on board, anyway!

Skagway, Alaska

Walked around town. Very cute and clean! Loved the Red Onion!

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 stars! Absolutely the most beautiful, serene place I have ever been. Don't miss this!

Ketchikan, Alaska

My favorite port on this trip! Such a fun town! I headed out and had a few drinks with the locals. A great way to really learn about the town, it's culture and residents. Please drink responsibly :)

Disembarkation
