I went on this cruise because I wanted to go to the Panama Canal. I did not know Holland America cruises are tailored to the elderly. The excursions were great. Everything else - food, drink, services, etc were typical of any other cruise line.

This geriatric cruise was typical for older adults. If you don't gamble much, you don't drink much alcohol, you don't want a spa treatment, and you don't want to buy a painting, then there is not much to do on this cruise. Sure, yo9u can get some sun sitting around their small pool or walk your laps around the main deck.

Very clean and comfortable. The king size bed was made up of two twin mattresses held together by a sheet. By morning I was sleeping on a sheet hammock.
Ship tip
FYI - Holland America Cruise Line is for the older crowd, over 65.
It was very fast, from standing in line on ship to roadside for pick-up was about 15 minutes. However, the ship needs to figure out how to better manager shipboard disembarkation traffic and lines.
It’s always a good idea to research a cruise line & ship prior to booking to see if it is a good fit for you. Holland America is not known for their entertainment or onboard activities, but primarily for great itineraries and quality food & service.
I'm sorry you didn't do research on Holland America before your cruise, but I'm glad you made the most of it. We cruised on the Volendam to Alaska a few years ago and loved it.
