Review summary

Our group experience was bad at the point that we will not sponsor RC. The service and attitude of employees was very poor and they treated us like they were doing us a favor, we felt very bad. We found the same attitude throughout the cruise. Also there were no options of entertainment provided for people who does not go to sleep early. I want to point out that the bartenders Flor, Bernadine and servers by the pool were excellent. Also Eusebio from the live station at the Windjammer, the Spanish server (I do not recall his name) by the Viking Lounge and Lisa by Guest Services were excellent. Aside from these employees, the rest were not well trained in service and guest relations.

Embarkation

Really bad. Disorganized. Delayed, and reason for delay was not provided. Royal was not prepared and let all passengers wait for more that 3 hours. We set up our embarkation time at 12:00pm, arrived at the pier at 11:00am and we are still here waiting. It's a mess.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Food was ok. I have cruised in Jewel of the Seas and Majesty of the seas and it was far better. The night of lobsters there were not enough tails so my table just got one tiny tail each when others were able to repeat 2 or more times. We were still hungry after that meal.

Onboard Activities

Our group of 11 between the age of 15 and 74 (me 38). Aside from the christmas special, the 70's nights and the thriller one (the last 3 nights) all at the centrum the ship was boring. With a beautiful sun and weather every single day at 3:30pm they played movies at the pool deck that you could barely see, instead of having it at the theater and live music at the pool. After or before the pool movie they showed RC trivia which we all knew after many times of seeing them. Recorded or live music were all shut down after 11:30pm in all public areas except for the Viking Lounge which was supposed to be until late but they also shut it down between 1:15 and 2:20 am. There was a night that we were thrown out at 1:15 am. When asking why so early since there was no other place that we were able to listen to music, the guy that check us in at the Lounge told me that they were closing all early because the majority of the guest were old and told me to "try the next cruise". I felt so unappreciated, discriminated, excluded, unwelcome, disrespected and that I threw the money that I paid to the garbage. If we knew that that was a special cruise for guest above certain age, or that there would be shutting down everything after 11:30pm we would have think it twice to book. I receive the same explanation about the median age from the cruise Director, he just added a "young lady". My group waited for the cruise to end. Awful experience. And vague excuse.

Traveler Photos

Pool deck during the afternoon, instead of music you get videos that you can barely see. At 3:30, and 6:30, and 8pm they were playing Lion King and other movies that you were unable to see because of the bright sun by the pool instead doing so at the theater. Wild Flamingo. A natural sanctuary.

Im not talking about party. I m talking about a movie at the pool at 3pm that nobody can see or the piano bar closing at 11:30 full of people like everything else. Honestly they did not provided options for all guests. Like I said before, i cruised in the Majesty Of the Seas and Jewel of the Seas from Royal and about the same size as the Vision and they were more organized and were able to cater everyone. Some people relax listen to piano and a glass of wine. That was not an option after 11:30 pm

Honestly. If late night entertainment and parties is what you are looking for, Carnival is probably a better fit as a cruise line for you. Choosing a cruise line is as important as choosing a destination for your cruise enjoyment.

Longer cruises do tend to be older as only retirees have that much time for a vacation. A smaller older ship won't have a lot of entertainment.

Wow the older crowd is getting a bad name !

Wow. I hope this was isolated incident. I have read many reviews where cruises longer than 7-8 nights tend to be for an older crowd
