A must do for any Christians out there that wants to understand their faith better. This cruise brought things all into perspective for me. Viking was the best option for older people due to the lack of children screening and playing.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Getting to the ship and getting registered was very quick and short. The staff was very knowledgeable and efficient making for a stress free embarkation!!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The buffet was amazing for each meal!! Manfrettis Italian resturant was a wonderful sit down experience with a menu for you to choose your meal. The Chefs table was a fancy eatery with a set menu that changed every three days. Smaller 5 course meal that was full of flavor, but small on quantity. Needed a meal after this meal, however good food. 3 or 4 other small places to get food throughout the day. You should never go hungry on this ship.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
A smaller size ship geared more to adults not kids ,so activities were more to relax. The spa are was top notch!! The main hot tub was the size of a small pool. Steam room and Snow Grotto were fun. The snow grotto was a cool down room that they actually made it snow in. Very exciting to discover for a first timer.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Every night there was a different form of entertainment somewhere on the ship. Very very talented group of individuals that loved what they were doing and it showed by their smiles and interaction with guests.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
What to say about the staff but they were always there with a smile waiting to help you however the could. Special requests were also treated in a fast manner and I never heard the word NO.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
First class all the way. However I thought the windows could be cleaned a little better on the outside. I absolutely hate water spots, but that’s just me!!
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin was spacious and very clean for two people, however they could have gotten rid of the coffee table in the room and this would have made getting around the cabin even better. Never got the towels folded into animals or special shapes like on other ships so kind of missed that.
Ship tip
Book a cabin in the center of the ship between the two elevator hubs. This will give you the shortest distance to get to all the major amenities aboard the ship. This helped us with my mother having a cane and or walker.
Is real was the whole reason for this trip. Seeing the holy sites where Jesus lived was amazing. The guides that Viking provided were amazing and so very knowledgeable of the area.
Last day of the trip and I went to the Vatican City and the chapel. They did a drive around the city tour in the morning so it was hard to take pictures through the bus windows. Traffic was also a nightmare for the bus driver. The Vatican was a highlight of my trip. I will no doubt need to go back so that I can explore the city more, one day was just a teaser.
Very easy and well planned out by the Viking staff. Had problems in the Rome airport getting a wheelchair for my mother. In the end we had to walk the entire way to the gate without assistance. A very long walk for a disabled person but mom survived.
