Review summary

Before you go do your research on ports contact their tourist information for advice to make most of each port and get value for money. We had young children with us went to dinner early and this allowed us to see most of shows. The ship managed most of our expectations and the scenery was awe inspiring. Perfection would have been balcony room, more activities for older children, an excursion to Pulpit Rock and aquarium at Alusand, bigger pool and longer stay at Bergen.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We got there early and had no problems embarking. A word of warning after the muster it was impossible getting the lift and this proved very stressful for people with prams, wheelchairs and disabilities. We walked the 10 flights of stairs. My advice would be stay where you are and have a drink before going to lift.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Buffett was adequate and my 16 year old grandson visited there at least 4 times a day. My daughter and Grandson went to Sindu Indian restaurant and have it 5 out of 5. We were freedom dining there were 9 of us including 2 children and 2 with food allergies we had the same table each evening no.62 at the restaurant on deck 6 near the shops. The team serving us at our table were fantastic and as soon as they saw us coming they prepared the table for the children. The food was fantastic and they catered for the members of our family with food allergies, apart from first night.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The older children did not seem well catered for, sports deck was poor. They only use pools and gym. Pools were small with no slides.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
My Granddaughter loved the shows, good comedian, tribute acts. Not much for 16 year old Grandson

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Mostly fantastic. At the Costa coffee shop on deck 4 service was slow and serving staff grumpy. Could have been a one off. Has I stated before, at restaurant superb. Security staff getting on and off ship a bit surly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
All good, did notice drink tables at Breakers bar and around pools could have done with a wild and ashtrays being emptied.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Adequate size, if I had been on board longer would have liked more space. Always well cleaned. We were on deck 14 one below Lido deck 15 noise didn't bother us and a short walk to breakfast and swimming pool.

Ship tip

After muster call stay where you are have a drink before attempting to use lifts.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England Did not visit port

Can't rate out of car on to ship.

Stavanger, Norway

Did not like this Port I thought it was dirty, in park with pond duck, pigeon and swan mess every where. Entrances of buildings seemed in need of a clean. Do an excursion to Pulpit Rock wish we had don't do with ship plenty of cheaper alternatives. Or I did notice, too late, that there is a Commonwealth war cemetery there.

Olden, Norway

5 out of 5
Wow, Wow, Wow. Get up and enjoy the view getting into Olden. We went on little train from port around Olden. If your fit take walking shoes and spend the day walking around the lake. My daughter and grandchildren went on speedboat excursion from ship, just OK, not as exciting as they were expecting.

Alesund, Norway

3 out of 5
Pretty we walked the steps wished we had gone to aquarium sounded fab.

Bergen, Norway

4 out of 5
Not enough time at this port. Get up to up the mountain on the Funicular. Just a 20 minute walk from ship, but ticket on line, skip the queues. My young grandchildren loved the park and the canoes on lake and the views were amazing. Our 2nd favourite port.

Disembarkation

On the Horizon paper they will tell you when you can book disembarked time. We booked for first spot and were off and away within half hour.
