trips off site made easy by berthing so close to each town. 12 day trip with 5 days at sea, leisurely whilst on ship but food was good and plenty to do to relax and do whatever you wanted. We had an excellent superior delux with balcony and sat out regularly. Only downside was anytime dining was limited by available tables, otherwise good value for money
enjoyed all of it my only complaint was I have always used the gym in the mornings for some exercise classes but was very surprised to be told there would be a nominal charge for this but did not expect to pay £7 per session ,which I thought was a bit steep .
A nice ship. We had a cabin with the balcony and separate sitting area which was well worth paying the extra as we found the normal balcony cabin a bit cramped. Walk in wardrobe is always easy to access which is another nice feature. Due to bad weather could not stop at Monte Carlo but still a very nice cruise. Choice of shows each night is always a bonus, but lack of interesting lectures during the day definitely needs some attention. Crew always helpful and a nice clean ship. Feel the dress code needs to be upheld more as noticed some people took advantage. A good cruise and would recommend.
Done the Belgium and Amsterdam on the Ventura. found staff was not so happy as they were on Britannia wouldn't go on the Ventura again. Seems to be anywhere outside you can smoke did not like this at all especially around the pool area where food was. should be dedicated to one side of the ship.
The biggest let down was the food very repetitive in main restaurants & very disappointing in Waterfront buffet service , getting a table was a big problem most of the time. The smokers congregated around the food tables around pool area. Excellent service & staff , great entertainment but not enough seats in all the venues we ended up standing some of the time. . Lots to do in the day & enjoyed all the lectures etc . Metropolis bar really relaxing and quieter but still had entertainment
As this was our first cruise we were blown away with all the standards on the ship with all the entertainment and the food and all the services that was available on board and the care that taken by all the staff including waiters and cabin stewards can not wait to return .
Got back 24th Nov 17. This was only ok due to poor entertainment except Matt & Sarah and the pianist. Food was just Ok in main restaurants but average in buffet and pool areas. Staff pretty good in general but we had to untie the sun beds ourselves due to lack of crew. Rosalie our cabin steward was wonderful ! Toilet in cabin overflowed twice but dealt with promptly. We heard this happen s quite regularly. Speciality dining was very good and reasonably priced. Highlights we're meeting Anthony who is responsible for all beverages on board inc beers, wines, coffees teas etc . Also met Ollie Smith in his bar the Glasshouse, what a great guy. Overall an okay cruise but Ventura really does need to tighten up with its hand disinfecting,go on Celebrity cruises and see what I mean. Also refit next March is much needed. Will not be rushing back for a P&O cruise.
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish, nothing was too much trouble for any of the crew, shows and entertainment excellent .now to start saving for the next one . Thanks to all for making it a memorable 1st cruise.
Loved the ship, had no issues with the ship at all. Very clean and well looked after. Enjoyed the Canaries and loved Madeira & Lisbon. I thought the entertainment could be hit and miss - the headliners were very good but got fed up with tribute acts virtually every night. Prices were very reasonable in both the shops and the bars. We found the food and service in the main dining room very good and ok in the buffet.
One real downer was kids dive bombing in the pool. I wouldn't go in the pools because I can't stand fighting through kids who's main aim is to jump in as near to people as they can get. It seems parents didn't bother to sort them out. Also found the spa very expensive - my nails broke so I went to have them done properly - spent over an hour listening to the technician trying to sell me so much rubbish that I didn't need or want. Then paid a fortune for the privilege.
However, have booked P&O again but trying a different ship. Would do Ventura again but never near to a school holiday. (This cruise was at the end if a 1/2 term break). It's not that I don't like children, it's that I don't like parents who don't control them.
First time cruising and what an experience.
Staff were first class, very helpful. Sea days were slightly boring but was nice to just chill out in the balcony and watch the world go buy!
Would definitely do it again but would book more excursions and take advantage of the stops.
The cabins were bigger than expected. Cleanliness of the shop was spotless. Great to see them maintaining the ship whilst at dock.
This was our first cruise and not sure if we’d go again. If we did it wouldn’t be with P&O. They overcharged us on our bill when we got back and the ship was a bit too big , too hard to find our way around
The buffet food made the cruise very disappointing and with the layout of the ship, and the boredom on sea days when there is inclement weather, means I won't go on Ventura or probably P & O again. RCI or Princess in future.
