Relaxing break with some pleasant stops

Verified Review

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

trips off site made easy by berthing so close to each town. 12 day trip with 5 days at sea, leisurely whilst on ship but food was good and plenty to do to relax and do whatever you wanted. We had an excellent superior delux with balcony and sat out regularly. Only downside was anytime dining was limited by available tables, otherwise good value for money

Fab holiday

enjoyed all of it my only complaint was I have always used the gym in the mornings for some exercise classes but was very surprised to be told there would be a nominal charge for this but did not expect to pay £7 per session ,which I thought was a bit steep .

setting sail

A nice ship.  We had a cabin with the balcony and separate sitting area which was well worth paying the extra  as we found the normal balcony cabin a bit cramped. Walk in wardrobe is always easy to access which is another nice feature.  Due to bad weather could not stop at Monte Carlo but still a very nice cruise.  Choice of shows each night is always a bonus, but lack of interesting lectures during the day definitely needs some attention.  Crew always helpful and a nice clean ship.  Feel the dress code needs to be upheld more as noticed some people took advantage.  A good cruise and would recommend.

We are going on Ventura...

Sail Date: /
We are going on Ventura on 1st Oct to the med. We have done 18 cruises so far but only one on P&O and that was on Britannia and we weren't very impressed with it . Layout of ship was awful and hardly anything on during bad weather when we couldn't go on . Evening entertainment was good though, because we have done most of our cruises on Royal Carribean or Princess but the theatre acts and cruise shows tend to have the same acts and shows year after year so this time we are having a change. Fingers crossed it will be good.

Enjoyable Cruise

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)
Disappointed not to have visited Sardinia but understand weather made this not possible. We enjoyed the convenience of not flying but of course this added to the number of sea days and overall we had four days of dull or bad weather. Surprised that during the periods of adverse sea conditions the ship moved more than expected for its size. Although we weren't sick as such it was uncomfortable at times particularly over prolonged period - 24 hours at one point. Ventura is a good ship with a good crew and really would have no hesitation with cruising on her again.

Fantastic experienc of my first cruise.

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Family (older children)
Onboard the P&O Ventura was my first cruise holiday and a brilliant family holiday all round. Fun filled days from start to finish with the activities, entertainment, ports of call, shopping & much more. I have already recommended to other family members and friends.

Excellent all that we expected. Would recommend but be prepared for the heat. This was the last school holiday cruise so lots of children but no really bother.

We had a wonderful stay...

Sail Date: /
We had a wonderful stay on Ventura. The cabins were large and the food was great, with tables always available at the buffet. We were entertained on the sea days with the swimming pools and deck games and thoroughly enjoyed the evening shows. Our whole family loved the trip and we hope to sail with p and o again.

Positive tester for november so was nice to get around without crowds

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

we are going on an eleven night cruise in November on the Ventura so we wanted to get a feel of the ship beforehand.this was 3 nights and gave us a good idea of what to expect.being at the aft end of the ship we found just how far it is to the entertainment venues,so next time we will be mid ships.whole experience was really good as this was our first cruise.we stayed on the ship in Zeebruge so was nice to get around without so many people.

So I prefer Ventura to...

Sail Date: /
So I prefer Ventura to Azura however I was a little disappointed with the buffet service. It was empty every time we visited. I don't eat that much at the buffet but there was just empty trays that should contain food. No plates were available. I had to wait for one for about 10 minutes. The staff all looked so unhappy which makes unhappy customers. Apart from that we had a good holiday but it's what you make it yourselves 😃

It's all Greek to me!

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

This was our 8th cruise on board Ventura so it's pretty obvious we like the ship! As we were Baltic tier, we had priority check in which was smooth and painless.  Our luggage was at the cabin door by the time we'd had our lunch so we were unpacked well before muster time. No problems with the cabin (C215 balcony), everything was how it should be. Decided to treat ourselves to our first drink of the cruise after muster so we went to The Exchange,  one of our regular watering holes, only to find the bar menus have changed! No more Magners cider! I was distraught!  Thatchers Gold or Aspalls now. Anyhow that was the only bad point of the whole cruise. Apart from the 1st and last days at sea, the weather was gorgeous though it was a bit weird on the 2nd day when we were sunbathing on Sky deck with the foghorn blaring every couple of minutes - we were higher than the fog bank ahead of us! Ports of call were great. We particularly liked Rhodes. This was a change of port to the original itinerary which included Kusadasi  (changed due to the recent troubles). It was our first visit but hope it won't be the last. Had one tour to Knossos from Heraklion which was good, did our own thing in the other ports. With regards to food, breakfast was in the cabin everyday bar the last which made for a leisurely start to the day. We had lunch in the buffet which was ok but the cold meat section was a bit limited. We were on Freedom dining which we prefer as we like a table for 2. Food in the MDR was good and plentiful.  Service was excellent at every table we had. Had one meal in the Beach House and one in The Glass House,  both of which were excellent.  Only went to one show as we aren't bothered about evening entertainment.  It was the Brit Tones who were very good and had a very polished act. We had THREE captins during the cruise. Our first was Simon Terry who unfortunately had to go home at short notice due to personal circumstances which meant the deputy Captain, Max Rossi took the helm to see us into Piraeus then Capt. Marcin Banach took over from there. So my overall view of the cruise was that yet again, P&O didn't let us down. We had a fabulous time and can't wait to sail away with them once more.

Sail Date: /
love this ship. just returned from 17 day greek isle cruise.Staff were great Food was always good with plenty of variety at lunch and themed evenings in the buffet. shows and artists were ok but not quite as good as other p&o cruises. my only moan is that bar service was a bit slow . all in all an awesome cruise.

Ventura

Sail Date: / Traveled As: Couple

Good itineary although could have squeezed another stop in for a 17 day cruise.  Overall great cruise and the entertainment was good considering a couple of acts could not get to the ship due to the Heathrow IT problems. Resident band Elextrix were great and not given enough credit. Howeveer JO 2 (might be getting that mixed up with a dring, but those on the cruise will know who I mean) were a bit excruciating.  Food good and ship clean if not a bit dated on some areas, having said that would be very happy to go on Ventura again.
