Very enjoyable trip for some winter sun , pleasant seas throughout as well which for this part of the world in November is a bit unusual.
4th time on ventura and we'll be back on without hesitation if a cruise that we want to go on comes up.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Quick and efficient , suitcases at the room by the time we got there
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We ate on the 1st sitting in the baytree restaurant . We thought the food was excellent , I'm struggling to think of a dish we didn't like , with a lot of variety to choose from . The service was also excellent from our waiter team.
We had breakfast in the buffet which was good with plenty of variety , although it did get a bit busy at certain times especially on the sea days.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
A great variety of things to do if you wanted to , the guest speaker on historical murders was particularly good.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Some were good and some weren't to our taste . Loved the way 'Serious sounds ' got everybody enjoying themselves one of the best house bands I've seen on a shop for a while , though 'pulse' did the exact opposite ..
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Stateroom attendant did an excellent job , our waiters during dining were brilliant as were the bar staff in the venues , although they may need more staff at busy times in some places.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Can't fault the ship or the cleanliness , we've been on this ship and ships with the same design several times so know our way around.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Standard inside room at the rear of the ship , easy access the lifts to the dining areas.
Ship tip
Metropolis is a great place to sit and relax in , I'm sure a lot of guests never find this venue.
Madeira is a lovely island , we've been several times . This time we had afternoon tea at the Reid's palace hotel , we booked it through the hotel website and were sat on the tea terrace , it's a 30 minute walk or a short taxi ride from the port , Well worth doing.
We did our first 5 cruises with balconies and they are great , but we found we hardly used the balcony and we preferred to be out around the ship .
The only issues come when your getting ready for an evening it can be a bit snug without one relaxing on the balcony while the other got ready , I just got ready first and nipped out for a beverage while my better half got ready .
If you don't like it at least you've tried it and the savings you make can pay for another cruise 😉
Very informative review thank you. We've been on Ventura several times and I think she's our favourite. Booked on her in September 2020 to canaries and first time in an inside cabin. Not sure what to expect.
