Review summary

Had an amazing time on our first cruise. Ship was lovely and staff were very friendly. Learnt some things for our next cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy. On ship within 15 minutes of leaving car with CPS parking.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Good quality food in MDR, the Beach House and The Epicurean. Salad for lunch in buffet was great but some of the cooked food was dry from being out too long. I found the selection of food very British and not much variety in MDR menus. We worked have liked more variety and some local dishes.

Waterside

4 out of 5

Buffet not as bad as I had thought given other reviews. Head to the rear part which is much quieter. Cold meat salads at lunch were lovely.

Metropolis

5 out of 5

Lovely bar with amazing views down the whole length of the ship. Pianist was very good.

Tazzine

4 out of 5

Very busy most of the time. Don't forget to get your free cake with any drink bought.

The White Room

5 out of 5

Had breakfast here every morning as in a suite. Friendly staff and excellent food. Evening meal here was good but sometimes less is more!

Cinnamon Restaurant

5 out of 5

Lovely restaurant with good service and lovely staff.

The Beach House

5 out of 5

Excellent Lava Rock steak. Noisy with the kids club above you.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Can't really comment as didn't do any activities other than listen to a talk on the artist LS Lowry. Was interesting at start then turned into a big sales pitch for the gallery trying to persuade us to spend thousands of pounds on a painting.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Didn't go tho any of the entertainment as it didn't interest us. Loved the pianist in Metropoloist tho.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Most staff were very friendly. Excellent room steward.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship was very clean but a little dated in decor and style.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Lovely spacious cabin but very noisy. Noise from table and chairs being moved and people walking to buffet restaurant on the Lido deck above was almost constant.

Ports of call

Southampton (London), England

Stayed in Holiday Inn by the Mayflower terminal. Do a very good room and parking deal for £175 a night including up to 15 nights free parking and transfers to and from the terminal.

Bergen, Norway

5 out of 5
Beautiful city. Buy your ticket for the funicular online before you leave UK as saves hours of queuing for a ticket. Still took over 30 mins to get on the train and you are all crammed on so not a pleasant trip but worth it for the amazing views.

Alesund, Norway

5 out of 5
Did the all day Land of the Trolls coach trip which takes you down the Troll road with its 11 hair pin bends. Amazing views from the top and a lovely buffet lunch when you reach the bottom. A long day but worth it.

Olden, Norway

5 out of 5
Small town. Did the glacier bus and lake trip. Loved it.

Stavanger, Norway

5 out of 5
Not much to do. Did the open top bus tour which was informative.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Off ship by 8am as priority disembarkation. Issue finding one of our cases and staff very unhelpful. Told us to keep looking despite being told we had both checked 3 times. Eventually found it in the wrong section of the hall.
