Would Not Cruise with Princess Again by CruiseChick07

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Sun Princess

I did not feel that, in general, Princess did not prioritize customer service as well as Celebrity. 1) Drink lines were very long. They would have the same bar servicing "to go" orders as one that had people standing in lines. Meanwhile, other bars were not open. It was not uncommon to wait 30 minutes for a drink. By the time you got it you almost had to get back in line. Celebrity not only had all bars open but they also had employees manning an iced container where you could walk up and get a beer. I feel sure if I asked them to keep Truly in it they would have accommodated me on Celebrity 2) I had to walk to a bar at dinner anytime I wanted a drink because they did not have Truly in the restaurant. They had them at all bars, though. The wait staff did not offer to get them for me. 3) The rooms were very narrow, comparatively. It felt like they were trying to cram in as many passengers as possible. 4) The quality of the shows was much lower than Celebrity. One of the performers (the unicyclist) was doing gay jokes. While I already did not appreciate this sense of humor, he was also using a small child in one of his tricks and I was especially offended that he would do gay jokes in front of a child. 5) Most nights we have to wait 2 hour or more to get through the dinner process so we often missed the 7:30 shows. 6) No one ever waited on us if we were sitting at the pool, etc. If we stopped someone to ask for a drink (because the lines were so long) they looked surprised and as if they were doing us a favor. 7) The non-alcoholic drink options were terrible, unless you buy an extra package. It was pretty much only warm water or terrible lemonade. If I wasn't having a cocktail (which were sparse due to the lines), I was drinking room temperature water.

Sun Princess 5-night Cruise First from the US by tiltyardferrets

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sun Princess

Princess Prizes wasn't working, had a horrible time making specialty dining reservations, casual dining was a joke with one restaurant (out of 2) serving food, entertainment venues too small for the size of ship, dome show only 1 night which was ridiculous for the amount of people onboard and the small venue, everything was always 5-10 minutes late, didn't mind being served buffet food just wish there were actual servers available.

Crew needs more training and better health standards by aco

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Sun Princess

Beware of Sun Princess medical service and guest services. For starter guest services seem to always be overwhelm and in the first few days of the cruise the lines are very long, which takes it in front of the elevators making it a hazard for other passengers. I got sick on the cruise and had to go to medical services. Dr Dunn Giola saw me and told me I had bronchitis. I could barely speak because I was coughing so much. She was very condescending and not willing to listen to the patient. If you refuse one of her treatments because in my case I had had a bad reaction to the medication ( it caused palpitation and almost lost conscious ) she responded “you are refusing treatment” so why did you come? She lacks human caring skills specially for a cruise ship doctor. She did not explain or provided other options or was willing to listen to the patient. She just prescribe paracetamol and OTC medication. Then, the next day when requested to talk to her on the phone because I was getting worst, she never call me back. I needed antibiotic because my phlegm had turn green and was running high fever. My family member had to request a call from medical officer so I could get medical attention. I requested to see a lead physician, but when the lead physician was to tend to me, she yell saying “no I need to see her”. So the patient has no voice. Her bed side manner needs training. Also, Sun Princess does not have an isolation or quarantine cleaning crew, so they will not clean or enter the room nor provide disinfecting products while you are place in isolation. They expect a passenger that is very sick with, fever, diarrhea and coughing to do all the house keeping. They could have use a mask and gloves and at least change the sheet and replace the towels and trash can. Even after speaking to a supervisor they refuse to provide cleaning service. And the room service menu is very limited. I have to spend over 4 days in an unclean room with this unhealthy and terrible conditions. Also there were several people with stomach problems and diarrhea because they do not disinfect the public areas like Cunard or other ships do. Cunard has a very professional quarantine cleanning crew always desinfecting public areas. Sun Princess needs to learn from Cunard. In short if you care about your health, think twice before coming on a Sun Princess cruise. Also prices are very high or more than $550USD just to see a doctor and medication is charge triple than on land, even for over the counter medication, even if you have the Sun Princess health insurance. Then you have to go thru the whole process to get partially reimbursed. There were two wonderful nurses Laura and Rie that were caring and nice, and deserve kudos for working with a doctor such Dr Giola. —————- Beware of Sun Princess medical service and guest services. Nice new ship .... extended journey because of Hurricane Milton by mikelevinegm

One Princess gets the specialty dining rooms relocated and some modification to the upper decks (where Park 19 was to be) this ship should have a 5 of 5 score!

Nice Ship by boomerang62

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sun Princess

Avery nice ship with conservative decorating which is appealing to us. The disappointment was the stress to get a seat at the Princess area and almost impossible seating at the DOME show. We liked the concept of the Eatery serving food rather than guests serving themselves spreading germs by handling serving utensils. The staff was terrific and very hard working. Food in the eatery was hit or miss because some of the food was not hot. Head chef Guido came to our table to chat with us with was very nice.

Great Mediterranean cruise on Sun Princess by Kitaroo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Sun Princess

We did have a full day, perhaps longer, of nearly unbearable tossing around of the ship. I had no idea such a large vessel could move so much. Laying in bed was like laying on a pool float, and my bed was already so tiny. If you are a single person travelling with a friend, the bed is really too small if you are not small. It is smaller than a twin, I felt I might fall out, and woke up very stiff because I could not stretch out at all. The stretching class did help alleviate this. I'm normally impervious to motion sickness, but the last day and a half aboard the ship was really quite awful, ruined and wasted lost time. We could barely eat. My friend puked a lot. Food was good, activities were nice, shows were great. Really, I wished we had more time on the ship, especially as we lost the last day feeling ill. Excursions were good. All the staff was great.

Truly amazing. We learned a lot by jjakcsy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sun Princess

The trip is really what you make of it. We wanted to learn a lot so we scheduled many excursions. The pools were pretty empty in the evening but well lighted. Outside seating is also much more available after everyone goes for dinner and the show or music. We felt that there was not hard core push to the shopping or other amenities, which was nice. Overall, a very nice cruise.

Great cruise with Princess on the Mediterranean! by charles06508970

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Sun Princess

This cruise was planned a hear in advance and worth it. We did have an issue with some of our planned amenities being changed during the course of waiting since we planned so far in advance but we received a credit to alleviate some of the heartache. The service was top notch. The cleanliness and food were awesome. There was something to do all every time slot that you could imagine so it was up to you to take downtime. I can't imagine staying on the ship while in port but there was plenty to do if you did. My main issue is that you have to understand the packages before you sail. The standard package doesn't include any drinks aside from water and you have to know the specific restaurant locations per your package and what is included or you'll be asking at each location what is complimentary. The packages you choose will also depend on if you are a drinker and how many wifi enabled devices you need. Aside from those things, the ship and the ports were exactly what we needed.

You need to add a very important item to your cruises for you employees that they desperately need, and ar being shorted, by glazierse127269

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Sun Princess

As I said earlier, your employees are being slighted in a very important area and that is you do not give them any opportunity to have a religious service of their choice, on the sabbath, which has far reaching implications not only for them but also your company. Those services could vary but allow them a brief time to participate.

Eh... it was ok. Would not recommend it for seeing the sites. Limited time to see Europe and no time to enjoy cruise amenities. This staff on princess was ok. Did not live up to my expectations. by KWFO

The cruise itself was really the highlight. by dvieira94218103

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sun Princess

It was a good cruise because it crossed off may "have to see" items for me. The ship was the highlight of the trip in many ways and it's for that reason I have a positive review of this. Other than Rome and Florence, the other stops were just stops. Still, it's a trip worth taking if you're looking to add this part of the world to your experiences.

Fabulous Cruise/Entertainment? by billtellsb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Sun Princess

The ship was beautiful! Although it had a lot of rooms, the entertainment venues were not large enough to accomodate all of the guests. We were turned away several times and saw the same happen to other guests when seeking entertainment in the evening.
