WE did a trip to Alaska on the Star Princess, I would not reccomend it to anyone. We had friends with us, and this was their first cruise, and they were not impressed.. We were very disappointed in our room.I paid for a partial view, my view looked directly into a "tender" I had no view! My room was much smaller than I was used to. This is my 4th cruise on the Princess line,so I thought I knew what the room sizes were. The food and intertainment were good, but not excellent. The ship layout was standard for Princess. Everything was clean, the people were courtious, and helpful. In general it was not what we have experienced in the past with Princess.
The Sun Princess is a little out dated and needs to be replaced. There is no enclosed observation decks other then the dining room. The room air conditioner was not working which made our inside room warm. They said that there was nothing wrong with the air conditioner. The food was of poor qaulity, not at all what I was exspecting from Princess. There was also some confusion at the ports when we went to take an exscurtion we were told to go to several differnt areas. Nobody seemed to be in charge.
there was no midnight buffet, I had dirty sheets for at least 3 days, the bed was lumpy, bathroom small, charge for sodas for 7 day when i did not puchase until 3 day into cruise, I wanted full lengeth pictures and was not please when i saw my pictures that they were half shots, was told you had to look at the photo where you took your picture.
Overall, the trip was a mixed bag. The scenery was breathtaking, but I would have liked a little more time in each port. The Sun Princess has a lot going for it, but is probably not the ship for everyone.
The ship was small in comparison too others I heard but being that this was my frist cruise it was fine. There were a few choppy days when I felt a little nauseaus. There could have been more fitness classes for my taste.
It was our first cruise and it impressed us very much.Everything was organized on very high professional level. We appreciate how all staff people made their job professionally.Food was very good. The only thing what was not so good was Internet connection which was rather slow and customer has to pay just for waiting . We think that the Internet connection should be free - included in the price as many hotels all over the world are doing that as standard service.
WE READ REVIEWS BEFORE WE WENT ON THIS CRUISE AND SOME SAID THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH NIGHT LIFE. TO THE CONTRARY,FOR SOMEONE IN THEIR 50S THERE WAS PLENTY TO DO IN THE EVENING AND STILL FIND A QUIET SPOT IF YOU WANTED.
We were very hesitent about the Sun Princess. All the cruises before we had a larger room and didn't know what to expect from this ship. What a surpise! Although the room was smaller, it didn't matter to us. We were right outside from the shops, pursers desk and the dining room. We had access to the elevators to the pool and we were able to descend from the ship to our ports and tours quickly. Everything went real well.
I thought the service was poor. The staff always had a quick answer that didn't solve the problem. The dining staff was good - it just seemed like the rest of the staff did the minimum. The food was okay. Breakfast and luch were fine- dinners were just okay. The last 2 nights of the (10 day) cruise the food was excellent. The other nights it was fair at best.
The cruise destinations were fantastic and the weather was great. We had a great time but I would recommend a different cruise line.
