No whales, surprising? We've cruised to Alaska three times and the ship's personnel on the bridge have always done a good job of spotting whales and notifying the passengers. If you return to Alaska, take a whale sightseeing excursion. We did one in Juneau which guaranteed sightings and were not disappointed with numerous humpbacks and orcas easily seen and photographed.

Wow! No whales? A few ears ago when I went last, I saw numerous whales from the ship. We spent a lot of time looking though. Others who didn't invest much time staring out to sea didn't see any.

We didn't see any until just now on our return through through the Straights to Victoria.
