Review summary

We have always enjoyed our RCCL crews, entertainment and service. Few complaints and none with Serenade. She is a wonderful ship. Rough seas could be difficult for some but she handles them well for her size. The itinerary was perfect for us. We enjoy sea days and port days and each port was unique enough to be interesting.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Our only negative was a slightly Waiter that seemed to mix-up the orders from seat to seat and table to table. This is the first time we have had any problems on RCL.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
An occasional quiet time in the Solarium is our main on-board activity other than our balcony.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We don't require much. The Theater shows, and Schooner Bar entertainer. All were excellent as we have come to expect from RCCL.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
All were fantastic expect our waiter who just seemed distracted or confused. Very nice fellow but not the best of waiters.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Second time on Serenade and loved it just as much as the first time.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin fixtures and drawers and cabinets were a bit worn in our cabin but clean and perfectly operational. Bathroom door was loose and clicked during rough seas a bit but it was easily resolved.

Ship tip

Use the cabin hallways to go forward and aft. Avoids the casino smoke and forward elevators are less busy.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
We are within driving distance so this not really a port of call for us but we love Ft. Lauderdale.

Oranjestad, Aruba Did not visit port

We chose this as our "Stay on Board" day to have the ship much to ourselves.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
We had a wonderful Jewish Heritage tour with Jude as our guide. We are not practicing but my wife has Jewish heritage. It is so much a part of the history of Curacao that it may be the best way to experience the Island for the first time.

Kralendijk, Bonaire

5 out of 5
We took a simple excursion to Spice Beach and relaxed while also swimming with many colorful fish off the dock provided. Coral reefs everywhere. Definitely taking our snorkel equipment next time.

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
Excursion to the Bitons by boat with a stop at the lava baths and a delicious lunch. It was a full day excursion so we were not able to see Castries but from the ship. Probably the most beautiful of the Caribbean islands we have visited but not significantly. There are so many wonderful islands.

St. John's, Antigua

5 out of 5
Our excursion was cancelled so we found a Taxi/Tour for $25 per person and got a great tour of both sides of the island with a little bit of personal history from our driver. Fun day.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and timely. We always get a Porter and they rush us through customs to our Uber for a little extra tip.
