Best trip I have been on! Loved the scenery and wildlife
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Very organized with preselected boarding times that avoided long lines, getting to the port was a bit of an issue with an expensive shuttle
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Main dining room food was EXCELLENT! Every night there were specialty courses that were unique and tasty. They always had Alaskan Sockeye salmon as an option. The buffet was good with many options and fresh fruit and salad. Breakfast food was a bit unique and not my favorite, but the standard scrambled eggs were good.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
There were far too many people for the few group activities they planned such as the paper airplane and egg drop that there was not enough materials or space. The 4th of July celebration was a waste of time. The dancing was just prerecorded music with no one to lead the dancing or to get people involved. Very few board games to get from the "library" to play. Kids were in the adult pool area alot so that you did not have the "serenity" escape that it should have been. Fitness room was typical but not great, it was difficult to find a place to use a yoga mat for stretching. There were was not much to do while cruising days at sea.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
All the shows in the main theater were excellent by the singing / dancing performers. The illusionist was great. The comedian was aweful. The music band they had in the center for the music through the decades was FANTASTIC!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
So many amazing staff members! They all made me feel special and important and remembered my name and took excellent care of our group.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Staff was constantly cleaning the ship & sanitizing everything. Deck design was good and had great views from the walking decks
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
For an interior cabin it was nice. Nothing special, just a place to sleep and shower. Bathroom is small but that is expected on a cruise ship
Ship tip
Book shore excursions on site - it is much cheaper
Best place to buy souvenirs. Enjoyed the rain forest excursion, but there is no "totem park" at the rain forest as advertised other than totem poles there local artist makes. There is a small public museum with a free shuttle that is only $6 and has totem poles that are several hundred years old with lots of other info that I really enjoyed. Others on our cruise went to the Saxman Village and enjoyed the dancing. Totem Bight state park is the best place to see original totem poles in their original place
Thank-you for sharing. I’ll be on Sapphire Princess in August. We are staying at the princess wilderness lodge for 3 days pre-cruise. Looking forward to visiting Alaska.
