If you can’t make reservations for the specialty restaurants, stop by at 5-5:30 pm to see if there are any no-shows. DO NOT miss the early morning sail into and out of the fjord, beautiful.. take binocs! Take clothing layers for Alaska cruising.. we had 50° days and 72° days. Buy a suction cup (outside) thermometer for your balcony window. Wine tastings are $12/ person.. much cheaper than other cruise lines. The Cigar lounge is open (near casino).. I like an occasional cigar and a lounge is becoming a rarity! Have a paper copy of your shot record, Covid test, passport and boarding pass within reach when boarding.. you may or may not be asked for them but be ready!
Don’t sail with Princess! WiFi sucks! If you do, don’t upgrade and pay for premium because you won’t get into special dining. If you have allergies to dust and or nuts, bring extra medication and an epi pen. If you’ve cruised Royal Caribbean, you will hate the food on Princess!
Read the fine print in your little stateroom screen when it entices you to play the “Princess prizes”game- we signed up without our reading glasses and found out later that it cost $20 per day!
When gettiing off the elevator to go to your room, check out the carpet colors for each side of the ship. They are different by just one color (red) in print on the one side. Saves you from having to read signs!
If you want a quiet place to swim or just hang out, go to the adult pool at the aft of the ship in behind the Caribe Buffet. It has plenty of seating area and some shade. Above is an adult hot tub. There is also a bar there and the waiters/waitresses are very attentive and pleasant.
If you are lucky and have a balcony the day starter of coissants and hot coffee ordered the night before, on the balcony overlooking the ocean is the best.
Check out all the buffet lines before you choose.. they are not the same! Suggest that you try the formal dining at least once. AND try NEW foods- not every day you can have that opprtunity...but if you insist on burger and fries - they are by the pool.
Also - wait until the entire week of photos are taken before you buy- you might like another night better than the first.
If you drink soda pop - buy a sticker for the week. It saves you money.
