This was our first cruise and we will be going on a cruise again thanks to the Ruby Princess.

Embarkation

We drove to the ship and used the Cruise Parking site at the Armory to leave our car for the week. They were wonderful. Very nice and very prompt service. We would use them again. They shuttled us straight to the port entrance. Our check in time was 2:30 but we were there about 12:00 and went to the counter and they were glad to check us in. No waiting at all to get on the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had a 6:00 dinner time and it was changed to 5:30 when we got on the ship. We traveled with 6 other couples. We sat at the same two tables side by side each night. The waiter, Sherwin and his assistant Red James were fabulous. They got to know us and knew what we liked. Very efficient and very friendly. Loved the service and the food. We also ate at the International Cafe, sandwiches were great as well as the desserts. My husband especially liked the sugar free desserts that were always offered there and in the dining room. The room service food wasn't as great as the restaurants. It's hard to keep the cold stuff cold and the hot stuff hot so we understood. The coffee and the drinks were all great.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was always something going on. The pop-up sales were great. I got t-shirts for $6.99 and purses for $10. There was jewlery too. The Park Rangers came onboard on our day at Glacier National Park and that was wonderful too. The chef did a presentation and we toured the galley too.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The production shows were great. All really hard workers. We saw two of the three. The comedian was great as well as the art show and I can't say enough about Duke the cruise director and his staff. They had audience interactive games in the lounge all the time. You could tell they were there to make sure we all had a good time.

Service and Staff

Everyone was fantastic. Christopher was our cabin Steward and was always so friendly and did a great job on our room. It was so nice to come back to a clean room with fluffed pillows. The waiter we had for dinner, Sherwin and his assistant were outstanding. Sherwin was working in the buffet one afternoon for lunch and he made sure we were all taken care of for drinks, silverware, etc. Everyone we met went out of their way. We could ask anyone for directions and they were always ready to help. The only one i didn't care for was the jewelry lady but I don't think she is employed by the ship.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very well maintained. Nothing was ever untidy. It took us until about Thursday to figure out the layout but there were signs at every elevator. Common bathrooms were always clean too.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I had previously read comments that the cabins were small and cramped. I thought the cabin was just like a hotel room. There were plenty of drawers and cupboards for our things. It wasn't a suite but it was very nice and we weren't in there that much. Loved the balcony and would recommend getting one with every cruise.

Ship tip

Enjoy everything they offer. Don't spend time in your room, get out and mingle and enjoy the events and food. It's great!

Our tram was stuck at the top of the mountain for a couple of hours so we didn't have time to explore Juneau.
