Review summary

It would have been so much better if the Captain would have done more innerpassage verse open ocean on the first two days. Seas were very rough and it ruined those days. I understand that they file a trip, but just like on an airplane, the captain looks for calmer air. Our ship could have moved off the seas at Graham Island and cut hours of rough seas off the trip - just saying. Glacier Bay was beautiful and having the Rangers on board was a nice add.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We went early, went right on the ship, room was ready - great.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was only okay; The best meal and service was at the Steakhouse that we paid extra. The second time we went there - not as good. Bars were great - good drinks and good service.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Seas were rough on our days at sea - really couldn't do anything.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Service was great except for the restaurants.

Lots of people on my cruise last week were wearing patch behind ear. I used Dramamine and it worked fine.

Sea Bands work for me (around $8 at Walgreens). Dramamine makes me drowsy, but Bonine works for the nausea. We were fortunate on our Alaska cruise and didn't have any rough seas (we went in September).

CruiseMom5 - thank you. What about the patch behind the ear and dramamine?

Sea bands are over the counter bands you wear around your wrists. Heard they work. Also asked my dr for quick working nausea meds just in case....Zofran dissolvable pills.

CruiseMom5 what are sea bands and Zofran?

I’ve gone 3 times and it’s alway a little rough going and coming back. Bring your meds for sure

First time cruise for me will be September 15th to Alaska sailing round trip from Seattle. My biggest fear is seasickness. I've been out in the open waters in Tahiti and didn't have any problems. Anyone have suggestions "just in case"? Maybe preventive?

The captain will take the best course he is able to take. They can't just sail wherever they want. Sometimes it is rough no matter which way they go.

Just like an airplane, the captain must be given approval before charting another course.
