Review summary

This was our 9th cruise so we had something to compare it to. It was not our favorite one but there were no real reasons why. It just did not give the full Princess excellent experience we are used to. The staff did not seem to be "on" like other ships. The Production shows did not "wow" us like other ones we have seen but the comic and singer were fantastic. Disappointed that the Movies Under the Stars did not have staff offering the popcorn, milk and cookies like we have had before. Also, milkshakes are not included in the Soda and More package anymore. 4 others who traveled with us experienced their first cruise and they really enjoyed it.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Had express boarding which was nice.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Princess Cruise quality food offerings. No problems or issues to getting seated or food quality. Bar service staff was lacking around the decks and in the theater with no one to be seen for long periods of time.

Crown Grill

5 out of 5

Staff was excellent as was the food. Only comment to make would be to have better quality steak knives. Everything else was great.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Comedian was our favorite! The crooner gave great performances as well.

Princess Theater

4 out of 5

Have seen better quality shows on other Princess ships. The magic performance was not very good so we left early. The ship's house band is amazing.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Dining room staff were very good and fun to be with. The bar staff seemed disinterested at times. Room steward was as expected but no to a level we have seen before. We have felt more appreciated on other Princess ships.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Princess quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Princess standards. Very nice bed that was better than other ships.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

4 out of 5
Close to the port but not in a very nice area. Good for the pre-cruise stay.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

4 out of 5
Did not pay for an excursion and just did our own thing. We have been there a few times before so we knew what we wanted to do. Had a great Mexican lunch experience a few blocks off the Malacon. It is a bit of a walk to get from the dock to the main street for people with walking issues.

Mazatlan, Mexico

5 out of 5
Excellent transfer from the ship to the market area, which was nice to walk through. Did our own tour with a private van which was very enjoyable to have our group of 6 and 3 others.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Quick tender that was easy to do. Did our own tour with a guy who had a rickshaw type bike which was very good. He took us to areas that most tours do not go to. We saw very few buses or other tourists in the places we went to. Wish we had more time in this port.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Had priority disembarkation. Very smooth and easy.

Thanks for the informative review, we are sailing on the Ruby in May, an d will definitely snag some cookies at the buffet for the movies under the stars. Glad the first timers had a good time. Good Cruising!

That's a fair review. Every cruise can't be your favorite.
