Review summary

Our cruise was ruined by the disgruntled Maitre'D. The End.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
The embarkation was a bit slow but otherwise it went okay.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The Maitre'D spoiled our whole cruise. Because of my allergy to shellfish he refused to accommodate my husband and me in an agreeable manner, and instead insisted that we eat in our cabin. This treatment would have been fine had I not already cleared the dining situation with Princess Headquarters before I ever booked the cruise. Through it all we were met with hostile unbending resisitance and he said it did not matter what headquarters says because he is the final authority. Instead of coming back new... we came back exasperated.

Vines Wine Bar

5 out of 5

We loved our Wine tender and his assistant. They were warm and hospitalbe and made everyone feel welcome.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The shipboard schedule did not accommodte those with late dining. We were always late to the evening show.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The shows were okay, however the comediam was CLEAN and hilarious!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our wait staff, with exception to the Maitre' D, were wonderful. In fact, they were taken back by our treatment and tried to make up for his uncaring rudeness.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
This is the first time we've had an inside cabin and I have to say I missed the natural light.

Ship tip

Avoid the Maitre'D.

Complain much?

I’m sorry you had a bad experience, but don’t let the rudeness of the Maitre’d ruin your entire trip. His unprofessional behavior is his onus and you should not let it weigh on you. The rest of your reviews are great, being happy with the staff, the ports, and most aspects of the ship. A rude and callous attitude from one person should not be bigger than the trip itself.

Oh no! So sorry to hear that. Hope you contact the headquarters.🤔

I travelled on the Ruby a couple of years ago with a shellfish allergy and I couldn't have praised them enough for how accomodating they were. Very odd they've changed so much.

My partner cannot be near shellfish and has never been mistreated by the MDR staff at any level. She had many other options to eat every night of the cruise. She was happy, I was happy since I could get seafood every meal which I cannot do at home. Strange!

So did you have to eat in your cabin? Did the Maitre' D randomly pick you out to harass? What was the dining situation you had to clear? Shellfish allergies are pretty common and easy to accommodate. Curious for more backstory.

There is absolute no doubting that HQ needs to have words with this person and it would seem as though they need some kind of training in the art of making sure all clients have a pleasurable experience and not one like you appear to have had. Totally unacceptable and needs to be acted on hastily so as to avoid such behaviour going forward. You also need to be compensated in some way for not being able to enjoy your cruise experience due to the behaviour. Please repost how this situation was handled by Princess so we can feel confident that others won’t be treated this way in the future. Sorry for your bad experience!
