Ruby Princess

Review summary

This was our seventh cruise with Princess and our first time using a Club Class mini-suite. An absolutely fantastic experience in every way. If you are going to do any shopping in the specialty shops, wait until the last minute; the prices drop each day. We did not buy a photo package; just not worth the price. We enjoyed it so much that our next cruise (4 day California Coast w/Santa Barbara) will also be on the Ruby.

Didn't Use any.

Children's Programs

No children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Unbelievable service in Club Class dining room. All other experiences with staff were perfect

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Perfect for our needs.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very roomy and perfectly clean. But the rental scooter we used barely fit through the cabin door. Difficult enough that we bought a foldable (much narrower) to use on our next cruise.

Ship tip

YOU MUST go Club Class, The difference in price is absolutely worth the cost.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California Did not visit port

Only used for embarkation and disembarking.

San Francisco, California

5 out of 5
Perfect location for docking. Did it on our own.

Monterey, California

No excursion. Just wandered the pier and had a very nice lunch. Since the rental scooter could not go on a tender, it was the best we could do. One more reason to have bought the folding scooter. Hopefully can go on a tender on our next cruise.

San Diego, California

5 out of 5
Went on a Harbor Cruise. Distance from the ship was far greater than indicated. Didn't take the scooter because the excursion boat disallowed.

Ensenada, Mexico

4 out of 5
Did a wine tasting/shopping excursion. Very nice, but very crowded. This time walk to the bus was far shorter than advertised

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
We had to use a Princess wheelchair and it took over 1-1/2 hours to get off the ship. Customs took 5 minutes.

I was wondering how you've been doing crusing with a folding travel scooter. I love mine made life so much easier.

We’re on Ruby in early February for a Mexican Riviera cruise. Looking forward to it!

Thanks for the comments on Club Class. We will be doing the CC mini-suite for the first time in July on Regal Princess. Seems like people like it, especially the dining experience.
