Review summary

This was cruise #14 and our 7th with Princess. We've been on Ruby the most. It was very relaxing, just wish the weather cooperated. Although we have been to all of the ports before, SF and Monterey never get old.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We brought friends for the Bon Voyage Experience, so we got to board right after the In-Transit passengers. Check-in was less than 5 minutes and security was painless. We waited about 15 minutes to board.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Enjoyed the food on this cruise more so than our last cruise. Not as much duplication in Horizon Court. We had the best waitstaff team in Jimmy and Art and one of the most personable Head Waiters in Carlos. We did not purchase beverage packages so pay ala carte.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I chill on our veranda while the wife roams the ship. We did do the Culinary show but opted not to do the Galley Tour.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Dancers were great. The singers, not so much. We have seen all of the Productions shows, (Magic To Do, Colors Of The World, Once Upon a Dream) before. I was very impressed with the stage management. Lighting, sound, set changes, all first-class.

Children's Programs

No Kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As mentioned before, Jimmy, Art and Carlos in the Main Dining Room were top-notch. Arren and Zelina in the Buffet were great, too. Sometimes you think that they are being nice to you so you might give them a tip. Everyone we dealt with made it obvious, they were more interested in getting 10's on the survey. Refreshing. Ricardo was our Cabin Steward. Best we've had. It's the little things. We set up the bathroom a certain way and he didn't go in and change things around. One of the Bar Servers in the Casino, Veronica, always greeted us by name and a smile.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It's an older ship, but well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
If this particular stateroom is available, we take it. No elevators to the Buffet!!!!

Ship tip

If available, take the Ultimate Ship Tour. I will review it when I post a review on Leg Two of our back to back 10/28 Sailing.

Disembarkation

We were In-Transit. There were about 60 of us. We met at the Wheelhouse Bar around 10:20. We were escorted off the ship, through Customs, then came back up to the terminal into the In-Transit section. Within 20 minutes, back on the ship for Leg Two. We had the same Cabin, so everything was there for us. Time to remember those we met and look forward to a group of new friends.
