Review summary

The entertainment exceeded my expectations. The cabin was comfortable and clean but the bunk beds got in the way. The toilet had a disagreeable smell when the seat cover was raised. The meals were satisfactory and the International Cafe plus the availability of hot dogs and hamburgers was great.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Got to the port early and was allowed to board so we beat the crowds and avoided the line that snaked around to board later on in the day.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Meals were, on the whole, good in the specialty restaurants. Buffet meal selections were a little less than other cruise lines we have taken but adequate amounts were available. The hot dogs and sausages were good and the International Cafe selections which changed daily was nice to patronize for snacks and desserts.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Used the fitness center and passed on the pools and other recreational facilities.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The variety available was nice to have. I had relatively low expectations for the shows, but the production values were high and the choreography won me over. The mariachi band trio and especially the large mariachi band on stage during one of the shows were excellent. Cooking demo was fun and associated commentary was humorous and enjoyable.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service was as expected from all personnel.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Not all the decks could be walked through from end to end. I would have liked to have a map of the ship which pointed out the locations where you had to circumnavigate to proceed in the same direction. Common areas were cleaned.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Would like to have been warned that two bunk beds were in our cabin. It took a few days and several bumps in the shoulders and head to get used to coping with with them so that we could maneuver our bodies to avoid hitting them when getting in and out of the bed. Would have liked a receptacle to accept paper/plastic for recycling.

Ship tip

Make dinner reservations to avoid long lines for dinner. We did so daily, and in our case the reservations could be made through early afternoon.
