WOW Ruby Princess Cruise

Sail Date: August 07, 2016

Reviewed: 10 months ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

My wife and I recently completed an Alaskan cruise on the Ruby Princess. WOW, what a wonderful experience.  I cannot say enough superlatives regarding the ship, staff, and cuisine.  Everything was perfect shipboard wise. The weather was not so cooperative but the Ruby Princess' crew members and the Juneau photo safari and whale watching excursion more than made up for the weather.  I would highly, highly recommend that you consider the Ruby Princess for your Alaskan cruise.Big Smile

Cabin / Stateroom
Larger than we thought it would be. Very well appointed, extremely clean and well kept. Most comfortable bed I've every slept on. I'm searching the internet to buy one.
Embarkation and Disembarkation
Best we've every encountered. Very well organized.
Ship Quality
High quality, Extremely well maintained and very, very clean.
Destinations and Excursions
EXPENSIVE. Be selective and watch the weather forecast, dress for the occasion. Rain is ok for an ocean excursion, but rain and fog can ruin the train ride at Skagway.
Onboard Activities
More than enough things to do. We went to relax and enjoy the scenery which is what we did.
Children's Programs
No children.
Didn't bother however, it was available. We relaxed and enjoyed the natural beauty during the day.
Service and Staff
Impeccable is the best description. A super courteous staff.
Food and Dining
The BEST we've every experienced on a cruise.
Seattle, Washington
Ride public transportation & stay close to the airport if you want to save money. Forget renting a car, use the train in and out of the downtown area. Don't miss Space Needle and the Market (early morning)
Ketchikan, Alaska
Nothing spectacular about the town unless you're shopping for jewelry. Don't take a paid excursion for the town, easy walk all over, not very big.
Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska
Make sure to be on the top deck and dressed warmly! Stunning if the weather cooperates!
Juneau, Alaska
If whale watching season take an excursion. Nice small city.
Skagway, Alaska
Watch the weather forecast before booking a train excursion. You can book in Skagway if need be. Best place to buy a knife.
Victoria, British Columbia
Beautiful city but you will need more time to see than you have on a cruise. It's definitely a place to visit separate from a cruise. Butchart Gardens are beautiful but not enough time on a cruise tour.

Book mid-ship deck 14 if possible. Rotate meals between dining rooms and buffets. Make sure to read dining menus daily as they change. Enjoy the desserts at the Piazza International Cafe. Best to eat late at all locations because they can be crowed between opening and up to 2 hours after.
