Review summary

If you want to see Alaska don't do a ship. Too much time wasted at sea trapped on ship trying to nickel and dime you by sales pitches at every turn. Places to visit so beautiful to spend so much time on a floating shopping mall. Staff on ship very professional. But when compared to past cruises did not live up to expectations.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food very good but not exceptional. Not a fan of open dining. Appearing dining staff attention suffers.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
too many of the activities were sales pitches. Others space limited with 3400 guests limited

I enjoyed the best of both worlds.  I took a 7-night HAL cruise of the inside passage and then took a HAL land tour of Danali.  I loved the cruise the best because I saw so many glaciers.  I did go back to Alaska but didn't see glaciers the second time.  Danali was more than I expected. My Alaska trips were memorable.  Alaska is an exciting destination no matter how you explore it.

I totally agree!!! I LOVE cruising but our Alaskian cruise just left us wanting more ALASKA! Next time we see Alaska, we will fly in around Denali and stay in a B & B or The Denali Wilderness Lodge.
