Royal Princess February cruise by bjszabo98

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This ship is beautiful, elegant atrium and so much activity within it.

We were on a seven day cruise with stops to Nassau, St Thomas and St Maartin.

Went anytime dining, which was not fun waiting in long lines...but we survived it.

Cabins were smaller than other ships and no center staircase, but that did not bother us. The adult only walk in pool in the serenity area on deck 17 was wonderful. Food was good in the dining room, desserts were sub par. Only three to choose from so half the time we left without dessert.

Feel royal on them Royal Princess by Cruiser334

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Royal Princess is a favorite.  Although it has 3000 passengers, the service is personal and the atmosphere surprisingly intimate.  There is always a seat at the evening shows which are outstanding.  The dining staff cater to your needs.  We always eat every meal in the dining room because it is a treat.  We also like the International Café for snacks.  Afternoon tea is a highlight.

Great crew and ship by tjwelch26

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The boat is beautiful. Very stable hardly move during some heavy seas. The adult pool area is nice for getting away from kids in the main pool area. This ship has lots of room for sun bathing or shade for those that want to be up on deck but not cooked. The food was excellent in both the dining room or the buffet. The buffet area is large enough to accommodate everyone. We only sail with Princess so it is going to be hard going back to the smaller ships now. Also this was by far the easiest embarkation and disembarkation of any cruise we have taken.

Waterfalls + by dkbuist

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have done 9 cruises on Princess-3;Royal Car.2;Celebrity-3

Food was the best.10 in the Horizon,9 in the main restaurant

Horizon flow of people was ok,a few times lack of seats

Concerto dining room provided lots of room, soft seats, atmosphere. Our waiters were good but seemed to be a little slow.

Enjoyed the sports deck, golf, shuffle board, bocce.I love table tennis but it was to windy-poor design.Hot tubs are good for 4 people only.Wonderful atrium and how it  had everything in one area.Loved the deals or sales on stuff.I even(male)bought some items!Theatre was not impressed;just seats and hard to get out.

Our island stops were the best of any of our cruises. We snorkel at two stops, did  long hikes to water falls on two excursions, and did coral world at St.Thomas.As before we could not get to the private island because of rough weather. It was in the 80s for 7 days-better than the 20s in Michigan.Overall I give the cruise a 9.

Go Spartans.Big Smile

Great service! Lovely ship!dominica very poor and hard to enjoy. by tbowersox

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We had a wonderful 12 days of for the royal princess. The service was outstanding! The ship is very clean and the food was very good. Also the entertainment in the big shows was outstanding. The string Quartet and he just quartet and Rockport great around the ship to him. All the ports were wonderful, except Dominica.  I would skip this port.  You seem to be some confusion about how to accommodate any time turned you seem to be some confusion about how to work on anytime dining. We would prefer using pagers like other ships we've been on before.

Princess not for everyone by bobgimbel

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

We have never seen this kind of loyalty to a cruise line. We are 71 and 69 and brouight down the average age on the ship (Royal Princess).  The overwhelming majority of passengers only sail on Princess and have gone on many, many cruises.  The ship is beautiful and ther smoothest sailing ship we have ever been on, even in rough seas.  Previously we have sailed on the Allure and Oasis, as well as Norwegian Breakaway.

We are not used to the way that Princess does business.  You cannot book meals or shows prior to boarding.  We usually have everything booked before we board.  However, things worked out fine.  There are only 2 specialty restaurants, but both are great.  Crown Grille and Sabatini's are wonderful and reservations are easy to make.  Except for formal nite, reservations were not even necessary.  Princess does does have shows, as we know them.  They have a series of song and dance revues, with absolutely amazing talent.  You just go to the theater about 30 minutes before the show and find a good seat.  There are NO glass holders on the seats, so if you get a drink, you have to hold it for the entire show.    Most shows last about 35 minutes.  There was an illusionist onje nite and a comedian on another.

Dining -  We went to the dining room (almost impossible to find) on the first night. It was terrible.  We never went back.  We ate at Sabitini's 4 times and Crown Grille twice.  We booked the Chef's Table and had one of the best culinary experiences of our lives.  Also, we attended 4 wine tastings, all great.  Of course, you must spend extra money to dine the way we did, but we found it worthwhile.  For a "foodie" who is also into wine, this is a great cruise.  Wine prices are surprsingly low and the selection includes many wines that were new to us.  The upcharge for the speialty restaurants is very reasonable and the staff quickly gets to know you, which makes for a delightful dining experience.  The free "pizzaria" Alfredo's was a high point.  Not a pizza joint - great Italian foods from salads to sandwiches to entrees.  We went there several times for lunch.  The b uffet was very nice, although we didn't eat meals there.  We went for a nosh and the pastries are incredible.

We went on several off-ship tours, and were very satisfied.  The leaving and re-boarding the ship are done very well.  Most of the passengers remain on the ship.

Lots of scrabble games and cards games going on.  This is not a cruise for families; there is nothing for kids to do.

There are 2 formal nits and most people really take it seriously.  Lots of music venues all over the ship.  The pool area is comfortable and usually there is no problem getting deck chairs.  One warning, though.  The deck gets extremely hot and you need to wear shoes when walking around rthe pool area.  Hot dogs, burgers, pizza and ice cream are served during the day around the pool.

To summarize, The Royal Princess is a great place to chill out and eat some good food.

Awesome cruise line. Great destinations. by Cruiser915

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Southern

Princess Cruise Line is the best there is.  Entertainment is varied, food has a great assortment.   Serve food to suit everyone's taste.  If you cannot find something to satisfy your hunger then you are not hungry.   Service from all staff is a pleasant experience.  You feel like you have a personal valet with all the staff.   The Royal Princess is a beautiful ship.

20-Day Caribbean Explorer by rosebarry

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I have sailed to the Caribbean for the last three years on the Royal Princess. The ship feels like home away from home. The 20 day cruise went by quickly. Next year we have booked a 30 day cruise. It is a large vessel and it takes time to get use to it. I intend to continue to sail with Princess. Hopefully, you will take my comments seriously in order to make cruising more comfortable.

Billion dollar ship-but a few minor complaints by kritch45

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Shower curtains on a billion dollar ship-really. Ship was beautiful but the main showroom was lacking-did not have a real showroom feel. The food was good but not outstanding-overall B- although there were some bright spots--Afredo's Italian Restaurant was excellent-as was the prime rib dinner. Steaks and other meats such as lamb chops were lower quality cuts and in some cases were as tough as shoe leather. The buffet on the 16th deck was adequate and you never had a problem finding a table, The entire crew were friendly and efficient.  The string quartet was excellent.

Wonderful ship by Marystag

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

We had a wonderful time, the food was great in the dining room and buffet.  The room was a little small but didn't spend too much time there.  Entertainment was very good, and good movies to watch late at night in our room.

Mixed Review by caxton44

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

The Royal Princess is a beautiful, but poorly designed ship.  The theater is small and poorly designed resulting in the necessity of 3 shows on many nights.  If you are on the first level, the seats are not inclined enough to give you a good view of the stage.  The elevators were the worst of any ship I have been on.  They need to either have more or have the synchronization reviewed so that you do not spend so much time waiting.  The service in the Horizon Buffet was often lacking.  Many mornings, my husband and I got our own coffee.

On a positive side, the ship is beautiful.  The entertainment was probably the best I have seen on any cruise.  Their production company is, without doubt, the best we have seen and their shows were terrific, as were the comedian and the illusionist.  Our cabin was very nice and the steward was excellent.

Did not care for Royal Princess by momwinslow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

I chose the Southern Caribbean cruise as there were three islands I have never visited. That being Grenada Dominica and Grand Turk. I like to get a birds eye view in the event I'd like to go back and spend a week there. Both Dominica and Granada were very poor and didn't seem as if there's much to do there other than sit on a beach. As for Grand Turk it was a waste of time, nothing there not even a town, there is a beach set up with entertainment and bar for cruise people to sit and spend the day.  I didn't need this  since I live on the beach in the States. As for the specialty and regular restaurants I was not thrilled, they all had the same menu so after a couple of days that got boring. When I tried to go to a specialty restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday we were turned away even though they were empty and said maybe they could find us a table with in 35 minutes, I reported this to guest services and to date have not heard back. I still prefer Celebrity out of all the cruise I have taken. I do and will plan on using again they were very helpful with with making all my plans.

Cruise expectations by OdettaTucker

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean

Though the weather was wonderful and our ports of call were what we expected we were disappointed in the quality and presentation of the food...not up to Princess standards..The staterooms are much smaller than the ships we cruised before ...the shore excursions were rushed and transportation on some of the land trips were unreliable ..The Piazza entertainment was very good...but the production shows in The Princess theater were fair at best.Better luck next time??Seems that Princess is trying to pack too many people in with not enough staff to handle them

New Year's at Royal Princess by ninac1220

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Beautiful ship, just the right size for us.Food was great and the shows were fabulous. They have 3 shows every night to cater to all the guests. We enjoyed them so much, we have to see it again on the late shows. We enjoyed the beach on almost all the ports. It was a great choice for a cruise. The new year's eve celebration was a blast, everybody was having a good time especially when the balloons dropped and covered the people dancing welcoming 2016. It was a great experience.

Great time aboard. by Cruiser950

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Royal Princess / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The experience was excellent on board. The ports of call were very nice and the people on board were exceptionally nice. We had a very good time and would recommend this line to our friends that will travel in the future. It was our first cruise on Princess Lines but it will not be our last. We are looking forward to our next vacation on board a Princess Vessel.
