I felt like this trip was a huge bait and switch. The website indicates a nightclub and a restaurant that don't exist. Our last stop wasn't worth getting off the ship for. And they introduced new fees two weeks before our sail date. I wont trust Princess again. We've been on a couple of Carnival cruises and a Disney cruise and got what we expected. So we are not new to cruising.
Embarkation

Embarkation went very smoothly and we got our luggage pretty quickly
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Crown Grill was fantastic. The main dining rooms were fine. good food. The buffet was a buffet, some of the food was really good and some was mediocre buffet food. The website says there is a Crab Shack. There is not. Doesnt exist. Why is it still listed on the website? And you have to pay to eat at Alfredos, which isnt a specialty restaurant. We didnt know that when we booked the trip, that changed two weeks before our sail date.

The service and food were outstanding. Our best dinner on the ship. Worth the extra fee.
Club 6

This does not exist. The website says it does, but it isnt there. There is a plaque on the wall where it used to be.
Onboard Activities

The website indicates that they have a nightclub where you can go dancing, called Club 6. It does not exist. I was really really looking forward to going dancing a few nights, I even bought a new dress. It isnt there anymore. Its still listed on the website a month later.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our cabin was great. We enjoyed the balcony a lot. We had a big wall on one side of our balcony, which obstructed our view a bit, but it also blocked the wind, so we didnt really mind.
Ship tip
The website for the ship is wrong, listing a nightclub and a restaurant that dont exist. That's a big deal if ship accomodations are important to you. They also introduced new fees two weeks before our sail date. That's not right
We did the tram tour and a glacier and whale watch tour and enjoyed both. We saw a lot of whales on the whale tour, but from a considerable distance. Our tour guide said they were not allowed to get any closer to the whales, to protect them. disappointing but understandable.
We did a train ride with a stop to visit an old brothel and attended a salmon bake. The train ride was amazing! The salmon bake was good. It was a great day.
We didnt get a close to the glaciers as I might have liked, but we had a lot of fog coming in and out so I'm sure that was part of the reason. They can commentary on the speakers which was helpful, and a hot cocoa station.
We were supposed to get here at 7pm so we could actually go do something. We got in close to 9 and at that point there was no reason to get off the ship since we had to be back by 11, nothing was open that late, and we disembarked the next morning. I dont think this should even count as a land stop.
We got Princess Plus and with that they offered the Pizzeria and/or Gastropub free included. You get 2, so go to either twice or one of each. Before they did the new fees, you had to pay for Gastropub. Also included is Gelato concoctions daily with PP.
It is expensive, but we use a lot of it, so I don’t know if it evens out or not. And no charge for room service. Thanks for your review.
We were on the Discovery Princess last year…. they had the Club 6 near the casino and it seemed to be popular. Then this summer we were on the Royal and we’re disappointed to see on that ship they had done away with the Club 6. Now that area is like an extension of the casino area with a bar :(
I’m Sailing on Regal Princess now, from Southampton to Ft. Lauderdale. Club 6 has so far been pretty empty. I’ve seen their dance floor fired up after the main theatre shows, but not a single person using it — maybe the 11pm+ crowd?
The new fee system has really irked a lot of people on board: new charges for Alfredo’s pizza, initial charge for room service and drink deliveries… A lot of it seems meant to drive us to the Princess Plus package, which we bought after I calculated the differences. I sympathise with you about the changes on such short notice.
I’m keeping an eye out for the days that they offer the Crab Shack and the British Pub Lunch.
What was the extra charge? If Club 6 is gone now what is there in thatspace now? I don’t mean a plaque on the wall. What are they using the floor space for now?
Sorry you were disappointed. The Crab Shack is a closed off area in the buffet area on certain nights, not a full time restaurant. We have tried it twice on different ships & wasn’t happy with it. I have never heard of Club 6, but we don’t usually do the night clubs. Hope your next cruise is better. 🛳️😎🛳️
