Royal Princess

Ship: Royal Princess

Cabin number: C631

Review summary

I felt like this trip was a huge bait and switch. The website indicates a nightclub and a restaurant that don't exist. Our last stop wasn't worth getting off the ship for. And they introduced new fees two weeks before our sail date. I wont trust Princess again. We've been on a couple of Carnival cruises and a Disney cruise and got what we expected. So we are not new to cruising.

Embarkation

Embarkation went very smoothly and we got our luggage pretty quickly

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Crown Grill was fantastic. The main dining rooms were fine. good food. The buffet was a buffet, some of the food was really good and some was mediocre buffet food. The website says there is a Crab Shack. There is not. Doesnt exist. Why is it still listed on the website? And you have to pay to eat at Alfredos, which isnt a specialty restaurant. We didnt know that when we booked the trip, that changed two weeks before our sail date.

Crown Grill

The service and food were outstanding. Our best dinner on the ship. Worth the extra fee.

Club 6

1 out of 5

This does not exist. The website says it does, but it isnt there. There is a plaque on the wall where it used to be.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The website indicates that they have a nightclub where you can go dancing, called Club 6. It does not exist. I was really really looking forward to going dancing a few nights, I even bought a new dress. It isnt there anymore. Its still listed on the website a month later.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our cabin was great. We enjoyed the balcony a lot. We had a big wall on one side of our balcony, which obstructed our view a bit, but it also blocked the wind, so we didnt really mind.

Ship tip

The website for the ship is wrong, listing a nightclub and a restaurant that dont exist. That's a big deal if ship accomodations are important to you. They also introduced new fees two weeks before our sail date. That's not right

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

We visited Seattle on our own.

Juneau, Alaska

We did the tram tour and a glacier and whale watch tour and enjoyed both. We saw a lot of whales on the whale tour, but from a considerable distance. Our tour guide said they were not allowed to get any closer to the whales, to protect them. disappointing but understandable.

Skagway, Alaska

We did a train ride with a stop to visit an old brothel and attended a salmon bake. The train ride was amazing! The salmon bake was good. It was a great day.

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
We didnt get a close to the glaciers as I might have liked, but we had a lot of fog coming in and out so I'm sure that was part of the reason. They can commentary on the speakers which was helpful, and a hot cocoa station.

Ketchikan, Alaska

We did a bear walk, and saw a mother and her cub. The forest is beautiful. I enjoyed it. Got some great pictures.

Victoria, British Columbia

We were supposed to get here at 7pm so we could actually go do something. We got in close to 9 and at that point there was no reason to get off the ship since we had to be back by 11, nothing was open that late, and we disembarked the next morning. I dont think this should even count as a land stop.

Disembarkation

quick and easy. Finding a cab/uber to our hotel seemed chaotic but we walked up just as an uber became free and lucked out.
