Review summary

This was our first cruise on Princess and our expectations were far exceeded on food, service, and overall experience. Alaska was absolutely stunning, and it was wonderful to experience it on such a top notch cruise line. We will definitely sail with Princess again!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Smooth and easy! No lines to drop our bags, and walked right on the ship! Getting your medallions ahead of time helps a lot!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
All of the food was fresh and amazing, whether we ate in the Horizon Court, Allegro dining, or the specialty restaurants. The pizza at Alfredo’s was delicious as well!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Fitness center is just ok. It’s small and some of the equipment is dated (stationary bikes mainly), but it was adequate. Generally, we felt like there wasn’t a lot for the teenagers to do in the evenings though.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The production shows were just ok as well, but we were entertained, so they did the job. Musicians around the ship were very good. Live music nearly everywhere in the afternoons and evenings, which was nice. It would be nice to play music that more people could dance to or sing along with

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service from every single person we encountered on the ship was consistently outstanding. We were very impressed!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We found the ship to be impeccably clean, but the layout was a bit confusing. It took us about 5 days to get it figured out, but that could just be us :)

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The Cabin was spacious and clean. And out bed was very comfortable. The balcony size was much smaller than we’ve seen on other cruise lines though, and the furniture on the balcony was far too big for the size.

Ship tip

Order your medallions ahead of time to avoid any lines during check in. Otherwise, prepare to eat A LOT and have an amazing time!

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
We did our own thing in Seattle on the front and back end of the trip and had a blast. Walked Pike Place, saw the gum wall and the original Starbucks, and even caught a Mariners game.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Beautiful and quaint. Did an excursion to Mendenhall Glacier and Nugget Falls and it was beautiful. Very rainy that day though. Pack warm clothes and a raincoat!

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Quaint and beautiful, again. Here we did a wilderness tour and canoed to the Davidson Glacier. It was so beautiful. If you do this excursion, be prepared for some physical work as you row your own 31’ canoe with other members of your group upstream to the glacier.

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
This was the highlight of the trip! It was foggy, but oh so beautiful still! We saw the glaciers, and lots of sea birds, seals, sea otters, and humpback whales on this day!

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Beautiful! We did a lumberjack show and axe throwing competition and had a lot of fun

Victoria, British Columbia Did not visit port

The stopover was only 3 hours, so not enough time to do anything.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The smoothest disembarkation we’ve had on any cruise, ever! We always do self carry for our bags, but this time we walked down and right off the ship with no wait at all!
