Great cruise on a great ship by philzo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Caribbean

Everything about Oceania and Riviera is excellent. Oceania is probably our favorite line (23 cruises on 9 different lines). The only complaint is the pricing of wine in the dining room, but this is a complaint that fits most if not all lines. The same wine that cost between $50 and $60 with gratuity on the ship can be bought in our grocery store for $16. Signed up for an unspecified future cruise to get discount but didn't receive the certificate and two weeks after enquiring by email Oceania still hasn't solved the missing certificate. IE, don't wait until the last day to sign up for a future cruise.

Storm causes itinerary adjustment by Goddessws

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Transatlantic

Besides skipping the Canary Islands, which was disappointing, but necessary, Nassau is a horrible stop. The original itinerary said Stirrup Cay. Otherwise the cruise was fantastic, Oceania is a top notch cruise line, ship is phenomenal, meals, service, everything just fantastic! Because of the extra days at sea (8 in a row on our first transatlantic cruise!), the staff and crew provided lots of extra activities ans entertainment, which was much appreciated!

Wonderful ship. Handled the rough seas very well. by ybglum

Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

A real pleasure, great friendly staff. wonderful service. Food choice with the specialty restaurants was a treasure. On board activities were somewhat sparse and with a day at sea the day became very long.

Beautiful Cruise by sharbrian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

We enjoyed our cruise immensely. The service in the restaurants, room, embarkation and debarkation in every port was amazing. For a Greek cruise, we were a little disappointed that more Indian cuisine was offered in the main dining room than any Greek cuisine! We are not fans of buffets for dinner, so we did not go to the buffet Greek dinners.

Amazing Mediterrean Voyage by LoveOceania

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

This cruise was a total delight. The ports of call were the primary reason we selected this particular cruise line and the Ancient Vignettes itinerary and we were not disappointed in any way. Oceania knows how to take care of its passengers in a first class manner. Everything went like clockwork as far the planning and execution of excursions. It would have been nice if some of the excursions were started later in the day, but we realize that to a large extent, the timing is dictated by the port and scheduled departures to the next port. The food is excellent and the crew is totally customer oriented. Bravo Oceania!

Two Thumbs Up! by RickyRicardo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was our 1st Oceania cruise and we loved it. The ship was much smaller than we have sailed on in the past and I liked it. Our balcony stateroom was spacious and well appointed. Lastly, the food was excellent. My wife must have a gluten free diet and she ate like a queen. She claimed they have the best GF bread she has ever tasted. We took the wine with dinner package which was great for us. On a downside, the nightly entertainment is truly lacking. Two nights they had a concert pianist and another a flute player. They also had 2 movie nights which no one attended (no surprise there!).

Loved the Greek islands by rasmussenspi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

Beautiful stops, but many were overcrowded so traveling in Sept/Oct might be better than July. We used the Oceania excursions in most ports and the tour guides were excellent. Cavtat was a beautiful harbor and Rhodes was less crowded with great shopping. We were surprised to learn about the way the grapes grow in Santorini and the white wine was quite good.

Good itinerary. Nice ship. Poor communications and information in arranging cruise and onboard. by Cruiser88015563

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

Itinerary was good. Food was fair. Communication was poor. Only found out after beginning the cruise that we could dine in specialty restrauants without up charge. By then all of the reasonable dining times were taken. Destinations staff does not have maps and information of the next port until after the ship docks there. It makes it virtually impossible, for example, to try to plan a short morning visit into the port and get back for your afternoon excursion. Typically, at 10:00 AM, there is a frenzied crowd surrounding the Concierge/Destinations desk seeing the hand out maps just brought on board, Dozens of clients all trying to ask the single concierge handing the maps out, “how do I get to....” It was incomprehensible that a “first class cruise line” would not have the next day’s city Information available at least the evening before. State room was nice. The ship seemed well maintained and one did not feel as though there were 1000-1200 passengers on board.

Like the title says, 10 days of relaxation. There is nothing outstanding about the shore excursions. There is everything to say about the staff and services. Outstanding!!! Food and ambiance beyond good.

I would rate this ship and its services at the top of the list. Oceania is one of the best Cruises ever We have been on over 20 Cruises We did a reattestation of our Marriage Vows for our Anniverary---it was beautiful. Lisa Rooney( Social Director for the Ship) handled everything----I cannot praise her enough !!!!

An excellent overall experience by nx7u

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

First cruise for my partner. Her comment: "every day is like two days. First you go out and visit a place, then you come back and party all night". We will sail Oceania again, but it will probably be a few years. Our objective was to see several Italian spots we hadn't been too, and Greece/Monte Carlo were bonuses. But our general style is to go someplace for 10 days and live there.

Interesting itinerary, disappointing on-board experience by kevsuec

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

I don't know if it is just this particular sailing, but this ship is not for the under 55 crowd. I knew from the passenger profile, that it wasn't for the young, but was surprised to see how elderly most people were. No interesting on-board activities or entertainment. The staff in general, did not seem too eager to please. Had better experience in other cruise ships, so it is not likely that my husband and I will return to Oceania.

Disappointing by TCruiser01

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe

We have cruised with Crystal, Silver sea, Seabourn and many others looking to promote "luxury cruises".  Oceania promotes itself as the "foodie cruise".

The ship was very nice and well done, but that is the easy part isnt it.

The service and attention to detail is where a cruise line can do well to separate itself from the others.... Oceania does not!  Although the dinner options and the food served there IS better than standard cruise lines like Royal Carb. It is only slightly above the quality of those such as Azamara and Seabourn. But that is only concerning dinner.  The Lunch, and Breakfast offerings are Par with Royal Carb at best, and the room service and offerings ( none ) between meal times is far "below" par!!  I have not cruised with a higher end line before and had such poor room service, or options available .

Nor on any other line have we been Pushed out of dining areas during afternoon hours.  I have never written a review before, but felt the value of this cruise was poor enough that I would provide this one. For the cost of the Oceania option, spend the same with Silver Sea or Crystal and enjoy far better service and higher quality cruise over all.

10 days filled with unforgetable memories! by AnastassiaP

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

The ship is beautiful and very very well maintained.  The food and the restaurant staff are all incredible. Overall we had a very nice vacation.

However, because of the numerous customer service issues we encountered, I would not sail on the Rivera again. I don't need to be dealing with incompetence on my vacation - a theme which was consistent between many of the guests we met during the cruise.  I feel the customer service management on this ship needs to improve significantly.  A few tips from Marina would help!

Perfect Cruise for High Expections by belair333

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This Med cruise was wonderful.  Our AA cruise specialist, Jeremy, was very attentive and guided our selections for a beautiful on board experience.  Notifications and reminders were helpful.  Embarkation went smoothly and ahead of schedule.  On board, the Oceania crew and staff were fabulous.  Rooms were clean and comfortable and we enjoyed our large balcony.  Committment to excellence was very apparent... from the housekeeping personnel, to the venue servers, to an outstanding evening in La Reserve, a seven course dinner with wine pairings... which was overseen personally by the senior executive chef... and was our favorite evening.  Gourmet food, informative cooking classes and wine tastings aboard were excellent.  The only downside were the Oceania cruise excursions.  2 of 3 were sub par due to audio issues... couldn't hear half of what was said.  The excursions we booked on our own via the Internet were 100% better in quality and price.

Amazing first cruise by Rivieracruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Riviera / Destination: Europe

The cruise was amazing! Food was as eating at a four star restaurant every evening, but wonderful due to no jacket required for the guys.   Was wonderful waking up at a new destination every morning.  The ship with its amazing spa and work out facilities were amazing as well. My first cruise the staff on board was very friendly and efficient.  Only thing I would say was the air travel could be improved. Would probably look into booking on my own next time.  But my wonderful travel agent Glen walked me through everything, being my first time had no idea what to do, couldn't have done it without him.  Will definitely be calling on Glen again for future bookings.  Trip of a lifetime 😎🍸
