Awesome, fun and great food! by PlanoBarb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

We missed the first half of the cruise because American Airlines canceled our flight and met the ship in Athens, Greece. So, Mykonos and Fiskardo and Assos on the island of Kafalonia were our only stops and were the best places to see. Weather was beautiful, roads were new and a big travel coach made it over the hairpin turns. Amazing!

Great European cruise by chipper1072

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

Overall it was a great experience. The cruise allows you to see a lot of Europe and explore what you might want to go back to. We love the cruise experience b/c it also allows one place to unpack rather than living out of a suitcase for the week.

Enjoyable Cruise Vacation by Chesia87

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Europe

We cruised from Barcelona to Venice with stops in France and Italy. The cruise was enjoyable. The ship was nice, clean, and comfortable temperature. Our stateroom was always clean, and the employees on the ship were extremely nice and always shared a smile. The food was great. We ate mostly at the Windjammer which was a buffet style. We also ate at the main dining room which was really nice, as well as two specialty restaurants.  The service and food was fantastic. Shore excursions were wonderful. Our last one in Venice was cancelled, not because of the ship but other reasons. We had a last minute booking for a late transfer, which then, the ship apparently overbooked and had to cancel ours. We were left last minute trying to figure out what to do in Venice as the boat docked at 7am and our flight was not until 5:30pm. We ended up leaving the ship at 9am and took the people mover into Venice, which was not far from the dock. In Venice, we were able to store our luggage at a luggage storage place for 5 euros per bag. We then explored Venice and took a bus to the airport. Overall, it wasn't bad and cheaper than doing the shore excursion, which included transportation to the airport. There was also some confusion on events and activities onboard the ship. We were never notified of the special events that would be occurring such as a 70s night and two formal nights. We knew there would be at least one formal night (as we've been on other cruises) but had not idea about the other or the 70s party. So we did not participate in those. Oh, and when signing up for the cruise, I signed up for the Café Select card which I thought would be on my ship identity card used to leave and board the ship. However, this card was different and was supposed to arrive in my stateroom. It never did. The ship left on a Saturday, and I didn't receive my card until Monday evening, after I told the café my situation several times they finally gave me one. So I had two days of not being able to enjoy my premium coffee that I already paid for.

Overall, I would recommend the ship and this cruise destination.

Excellent 17 Night Transatlantic Eastbound (Miami to Haifa) (2023-04-29) by lindafalls

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas

My partner & I had never cruised before so were nervous about taking this trip because, it would be a long time to be stuck on a boat, if we discovered that we didn't like cruising. Luckily, the ship's entertainment, service crew, and beautiful port destinations made it all so enjoyable that we never had time to get restless or home sick. Thank you very much for a great first time experience.

Wonderful Cruise by kgatesco

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We wanted to have a relaxing quiet cruise this time and we got exactly what we wanted. The crew was awesome and we felt safe and well taken care of. The cruise director (Elvis) and the entertainment director (Eric) were very good! Never a dull moment. Even the old standby activities of belly flop and such were fun because of them.

Rhapsody Vacation- 3rd time on this Grand Dame! by BeBeautiful

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

So to re-cap my experience on this ship, I would say that if you want a laid-back cruise experience with few to no kids and a very serious group of fellow cruisers (don't expect friendly and outgoing smiley happy 70+-year-old seniors/people), this is the ship for you. Great service and fewer people equals a better cruising experience to me, which Rhapsody once again delivered for my third sailing on her. Go with a group of people so you have fun. The seniors all looked grumpy and annoyed with any laughter or fun that we had, especially in Chop's Grill. Whatever though!! We had our own fun!

Cruise Ship Dive Trip by DeepWaterHappy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our New Year's Cruise included four stops for scuba diving plus New Year's Eve celebrations! What a fantastic way to spend New Year's Eve - you can dance all night then walk a few steps to your cabin. This Western Caribbean trip has four international ports of call, so plenty of scuba diving for us. The two days at sea at the beginning and end are the perfect way to begin and end the vacation. Rhapsody of the Seas is a wonderful ship; you never feel crowded, it has the best Diamond Lounge in the fleet, and plenty of areas for everyone to spread out and have their own spot overlooking the sea. Overall, a fantastic value and beautifully maintained ship. See more about our scuba diving excursions on my blog at DeepWaterHappy.com where I review all our dive operators!

A Great Time, and a Great Value by GaryYovino

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The entire cruise was wonderful, from the staff, to the food, the cabin, the entire ship was a great experience. I would certainly do it again.

The excursion in Casta Maya was great, however, the route to walk to where you get on the bus for the excursion wasn't a great experience. Way off the beaten path, in a not so good area. The company who did the bus tour were wonderful, they were very knowledgeable and were very customer service oriented, gave us cold bottle water several time, and since the weather was so hot, everyone got a damp cold washcloth on the way back. Still a great time.

7 Night Caribbean with the Kirbys by avakirby

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a wonderful time on the Rhapsody of the Seas. The food, excursions, and the theater shows were favorites. The staff was fantastic! Friendly, helpful and always had a smile!

The excursions were fun and we learned about each Island from the tour guides. Playing with monkeys and beach time in Roatan, hiking through the jungle and cave tubing in Belize, then bike riding and snorkeling in Cozumel, we had a blast!

Can't wait to go on my next cruise!!  Happy

Wonderful Cruise! by MichelleDA

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We knew when we booked that the Rhapsody of the Seas was an older ship that had been refurbished several years ago. The ship was in great condition and our stateroom (a Superior Balcony) was good sized, clean and in good condition. Bed was comfortable and there was plenty of closet space and room to move around.

We enjoyed dinner at the Chef's Table, Giovanni's (our favorite) and Chops Grille while on board. The only disappointment is that by booking these evenings, we missed out on the Captain's welcome reception and a couple of shows. The Chef's table was an elegant evening... only 12 people for dinner and each course was explained by the chef and the presentation was lovely. Due to the more intimate setting, we were able to get to know several of the other people dining with us and truly enjoyed their company throughout the evening and the rest of the week.

Giovanni's was spectacular! Way too much food but everything was fantastic. We followed the recommendations of our waiter who gave us great information about each selection. It was a perfect meal and we considered going back a 2nd time on the last night of the cruise but decided to join our dinner companions at our assigned table in the main dining room. Escargot was on the menu every night much to my husband's delight but the entree selections were slightly less wonderful than we had enjoyed on other cruise lines.  The food was good but the selections were somewhat blah in our modest opinion.

The two shows we attended were absolutely wonderful... amazing talent. We particularly enjoyed the Schooner Bar. There was a talented piano player/singer there every evening as well as trivia games throughout the week.

The pool area offered live music every day and there seemed to be plenty of room for everyone. The Windjammer cafe (a huge cafeteria) offered plenty of options although this was not my husband's favorite. He's not very fond of cafeteria style eating but he was able to find selections that he enjoyed. I enjoyed the Windjammer much more than he did but I don't mind cafeteria style eating. They offered plenty of greens, fruits, pastas, breads, and a variety of entree items to satisfy the tastes of the people from many different cultures that were on the ship. Breakfast options were plentiful and we enjoyed breakfast there every morning rather than going to the main dining room.

All in all, it was a great week and we would definitely do it again. The cruise itinerary was great (four Greek Islands) and a couple of days at sea.

The Ship was old and the staff was not friendly. by ynauta

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

There were 7 of us on this cruise from July 4-11, 2014. From the start we had a bad experience. This was my 6th cruise 2nd with Royal Caribbean. From my past experience I had high expectations for this cruise and boy was I let down. The ship was old, and none of the crew had answers for you. They acted like they didn't understand what we were saying to them. The casino pit boss never smiled and never greeted any of the people at the tables playing. The dining room dinners were very good. However the Windjammer food was always the same stuff. It almost seemed like we were eating the leftovers from the dining room the day before. One of the things that disappointed me the most was that they were always trying to sell us stuff. I went on the cruise for vacation to relax and here they are trying to sell me things that I didn't want or need. The tables on Deck 9 outside and in the Windjammer cafe were always dirty.... I would not reccomend this cruise ship to anyone.

Fantastic Experience by SSFamilyCruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Rhapsody of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean

The cruise was wonderful, the food delicious and plentiful, and overall it was a great experience. There was a rocky start because of an issue regarding kosher food, but we were impressed by how quickly the cruise staff solved the problem. We enjoyed our time on the ship. We took this cruise with our parents and siblings. We also recommended it to friends and ended up with a whole bus going on the cruise from our neighborhood. It was very enjoyable for all of us. We are already planning our next one! If the price remains competitive and kosher food is included, Royal Caribbean will have repeat customers!
