Review summary

We wanted to have a relaxing quiet cruise this time and we got exactly what we wanted. The crew was awesome and we felt safe and well taken care of. The cruise director (Elvis) and the entertainment director (Eric) were very good! Never a dull moment. Even the old standby activities of belly flop and such were fun because of them.

Embarkation

Embarkation was quick and easy. Port staff were friendly and helped to keep things moving.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We only used the MDRfor supper, no specialty dining. Have found after almost 20 cruises that the MDR is perfectly fine for all our evening dining. The menu has been changed up and we found some new items and our old favorites. We always do Traditional Dining, late seating. We love having the same table and same servers every night. They learn what we like and don't like. Every evening my husbands coke was on the table along with my glass of wine poured and ready for us when we arrived. On the first night we asked if you could get "savory bites". The server told us they are not part of the bread offerings anymore but he would see what he could do. Next evening and every evening thereafter we had them along with the regular bread. Tiago and Valeriia were great! We ate our breakfasts and lunches between the Park Cafe and Windjammer. The Egg Harbor did made to order omlettes every morning. They were so popular there was a 15 minute wait so keep that in mind if you are in a hurry. Between the two locations we were always able to find a good meal.

Schooner Bar

5 out of 5

Servers in the Schooner Bar are friendly and quick to serve you. Did not interact with the evening bartender but he had every seat filled! Lots of laughing and fun times.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The pool was clean and the life guards are a great addition. We did notice the pool attendants were alert to people trying to save chairs. Several times we saw them remove items into a clear plastic bag and take it over to the towel station.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
It was clean but extremely smokey. Saw several people who appeared to just be using it as a smoking venue as they were not actually using the slot machines, just sitting at them and talking. It isn't a large casino, the ship had some floor style air cleaners trying to help with the smoke.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This ship is smaller and older but the crew is exceptional! It was always clean, our cabin was spotless, the waiters were engaging and fun.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Love junior suites! The extra floor space is a huge bonus to us. Deck 8 is the one just below the pool deck. During the day we could hear quite alot of noise when we were on our balcony but inside the cabin it was quiet. No issues with sleeping. It was clean and comfortable.

Ship tip

Rhapsody is a wonderful ship. We would not necessarily recommend it for families. There are no water slides and water parks that young children would like. The pool is adequate. Did not check out the teen center but walked past it one night and the teens appeared to be having fun, interacting well but not sure what else there was for them to do. The other cruisers on this ship were a more mature group. This cruise in late April would lend itself to the older cruiser.

Ports of call

Tampa, Florida

5 out of 5
Check out the Riverwalk area...excellent!

Key West, Florida

5 out of 5
Key West is a fun port. So much history and fun! Peppers of Key West has a huge selection of hot sauces, dips, anything peppery. Try Key Lime Pie on a stick, yum! Check out all the bars, Captain Tony's, Schooner Wharf, Sloppy Joe's, Irish Kevins, Margaritaville. Tons of places to eat, cute boutiques. Don't forget to go to the Southern Most Point, Hemmingway's House, Southern Whitehouse.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
Cozumel has some excellent beach day options. Shopping is rampant, vendors can be obnoxious.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
We didn't do an excursion but we heard that the outer cays and the reef are well worth seeing. Belize is laid back and beautiful. This is a tender type stop, it takes about 15 minutes to tender into the port.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
The locals have done a great job making this a good port of call. The new cruise port area is fun, clean and interesting. Be sure to check out the pole flyers! Breathtaking!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Expect some lines but overall it was quick and easy.

Our first cruise was a couple of months ago on Rhapsody and it was incredible. Glad you had a similar experience!
