Review summary
Knowing that the Regal was one of the newest ships, I was expecting something more grand based on the descriptions and pictures. It actually seemed to be more on the scaled back side. The casino was small and filled with smoke from the couple of smokers very quickly. The dealers seemed to be all sick with no hand sanitizer available, so one had to blow their nose then continued dealing. When those of us playing said something to the pit boss, he looked around for about 30 seconds, shrugged his shoulders and went on with his business. No wonder that by the end of the cruise so many people leaving were coughing and sneezing.

I wish that they would disallow smoking in the casinos. I know the gambling goes along with smoking and the cruise lines would suffer financially if it was outlawed there but the rest of us have to suffer through the smoke. The worst thing is that mostly passengers have to walk through the smoke to get to the theater.

During our last sailing on a Princess ship, there was a hostess at each entrance into the buffet, who asked everyone to use the hand sanitizer. It may not prevent much but it does help some folks to be aware of the necessity to wash their hands frequently. I agree that there aren't enough opportunities for the wait staff to wash up between clearing plates and bringing coffee.... but that is also true in many land based restaurants. you can only be responsible for your oneself (and your children).

I have been on ships that had Norovirus but luckily I never came down with it. Although I don't think that hand sanitizes work against the virus, i still use it religiously. I also wash my hands as much as possible. On the Koningsdam, the new HAL ship, there is a hand washing station at the entrance to the buffet. I would urge all passengers to make use of it.

Washy- Washy....... The hand sanitizer may not prevent nor cure Noro, but it does help prevent the spread of it. Most people contract the virus because it continues to live on exposed surfaces. You touch something, then I touch it. It can spread rapidly, especially in a closed environment like a ship. People, in general, are pigs. Especially kids ( snot nosed little ba$turdz ). How many people fill out the sickness form, all the while they are coughing and sneezing, wiping their noses on their sleeves ? Funny thing is, after seeing someone hock up a loogie while filling out the forms at the desk, they hand you the same pen to use so you can do your paper work . What's up with that ?

The line cannot legally force passengers to use the hand sanitizer -- making it available is all they can reasonably do.
I agree that in the food service areas, there should be one employee handling the food, and another handling the money (or cruise cards, as the case may be).
Also, the hand sanitizer actually does not prevent the spread of Noro. Noro is a virus, the hand sanitizer is anti-bacterial. Two different things.

The hand sanitizer should also be available for all staff and so should hand washing stations. We were on the golden when there was an outbreak of Novo virus and I noticed the waiters in horizon and on decks were collecting used plates, cups etc and then bringing coffee and drinks with no way to wash in between.. also the person in the ice cream area was using the same pair of gloves for the 20-30 mins we were there so touching the 'register' and cruise cards then handling ice cream cones & cups.... hand hygiene needs to apply to ALL aboard.
