Loved this ship. The food was amazing. Speciality dining at Chops Grille and Giovanni's produced the best steak ever. Staff excellent. However wine on board is very very expensive. I paid $16 US for a bottle of wine in Honolulu and it was $50 US on board. A favourite place was the Champagne Bar

WHAT AN EXCELLENT TIME!!!!!!!! ... by lorddefiant

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

WHAT AN EXCELLENT TIME!!!!!!!! The crew on this ship were AWESOME!!! We did most of our drinking at the Champagne Bar, where Ace, Mihai, and Favio never seem to forget what you want. Our MDR wait staff (both named Iputu) were the BEST. Darwin, our stateroom attendant was quite the ninja!! Rarely seen, but the room was spotless!!! My only complaint would be, windjammer and pool decks always seemed to be packed, but that was only on the sea days. But, ZERO problems from this gem of a cruise ship!!!!

I really enjoyed this ship - not too big, not too small. Normally I avoid the buffet restaurant on ships, but the layout of the Windjammer was very well done and easy to use. I loved the outdoor area behind the Windjammer! by CarolynBull

I enjoyed this cruise very much. My husband complained that there was too many sea days before actually getting somewhere. I disagreed because I like to have the rest before the touring!

Great Re-positioning Cruise by wimcoltd93

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Hawaii

Overall a great cruise. This was our first experience with a re-positioning cruise and we had a great time. We enjoyed having 6 "at sea' days so we enjoyed the features of the ship at our leisure. The service that the staff provided made up for the age of the ship.

Great Cruise by Randy1961

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The southbound cruise on Radiance of the Seas was great and we enjoyed the smaller ship (compared to Oasis) and the somewhat slower pace. I recommend an Alaskan cruise to see natural beauty and wildlife which is quite a contrast to Caribbean cruising. The first challenge is determining how to pack - you may not want to pack a lot of shorts and t-shirts, unless you like it cool. I highly recommend taking the Alaska Railroad train between Anchorage and Seward (not the cruise line leased trains, but direct through Alaska RR). I also recommend the excursions where you get up close to a glacier and the whales. I usually have negative comments about parts of any cruise I take, but in this case, I have nothing negative to say. The entire itinerary and process throughout went well with no disappointments.

We have cruised on Royal ships 5 times- this was terrible!! We cruised to Alaska. Enjoyed the ports, and glacier. However, if you ONLY want to do trivia for entertainment for 7 days this is your cruise. We went to a couple shows, we are not gamblers. Very disappointed on activities to choice from.

Our vacation was 13day/14 high LandCruise . Pictures do not do this Alaska vacation justice, you must see it for yourself in order to experience the magnificence of our 49th state.

disappointing. As this cruise line has no understanding of customer service, I will not be using them again. They changed the time on an excursion and failed to notify us, so we missed it and they wouldn't reimburse us, even partially.

Radiance of the Seas Stateroom Was a Huge Disappointment! by CruisersMN

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

On July 14, 2017, we sailed for the fifth time with Royal Caribbean International. We sailed aboard Radiance of the Seas on a northbound Alaska and Hubbard Glacier cruise. Prior to this sailing, we also had been on many cruises, with other cruise lines. We have enjoyed traveling all over the world and have been very satisfied with the experiences. We have never complained about, or had a problem, with any of our staterooms. Our experience aboard Radiance of the Seas changed all of that for us. The bathroom in Stateroom 7620 smelled like ‘sewer gas’. Our Stateroom Attendant and ship maintenance personnel attempted to address the issue. All efforts were unsuccessful. Something was very faulty with the ventilation system in our stateroom during our entire cruise. It was actually sickening to have to use the bathroom. When we were in our stateroom, we had to keep our deck door open for fresh air. There were no other staterooms available for us to move to. Cara Thomas, Guest Service Manager, on Radiance of the Seas, offered us a 50% discount on the fare of a future cruise to be taken by July 27, 2018. The Royal Caribbean International Cruise Ticket Contract denies any refunds to passengers who experience serious problems with their staterooms. Given our experience on this cruise, why would we every want to cruise with Royal Caribbean International in the future???

Great Land Pkg/Mediocre Cruise by NFehner

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

This was a once in a lifetime cruise. There are other places I want to visit rather than returning here. Best parts were the times spent on land. Strongly encourage people to add the land tour, if possible. Denali was amazing!

Ship: Radiance of the Seas

Just disembarked the ship. Had a great time, although I enjoy the allure or Indy better. For this cruise a smaller boat was required. All guest services were top notch! Like any ship maintenance was ongoing and the ship was always looking good. The weather was cooler then expected (lower 50's) plus wind chill so outdoor activities on ten ship was limited but we still used the heated pools and whirlpools. Food in the windjammer was diverse and very good for a buffet, main dining room was very well as well. Also ate at chops, excellent, samba, bring your appetite, and Giovanni's, ok, not really Italian... Hot dog stand was a disappointment, compared to Allure. Limited choice and burned onions and peppers. Park cafe very good for late nite snack. They had pizza in the evening which was great after picking the Kid's up from Adventure ocean Kid's program.

Alaska Dream Cruise by SteveCondron

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

The cruise was really very good, but only because Alaska is such an amazing destination. The Radiance of the Seas is a smaller, older ship with few features anything like we were used to having. I think if we were to do Alaska again, we would go on Princess or Celebrity.

Great cruise and change of... by iisstizzy

Sail date: /
Ship: Radiance of the Seas

Great cruise and change of scenery from the Caribbean cruises I've done. I only wish they'd drop Icy Strait Point in favor of more time in Skagway and Ketchikan, such as we had in Juneau... But that's just nitpicking. I enjoyed Steve the Cruise Director. He wasn't over the top to the point of being obnoxious like some are. Great staff staff in Windjammer and Cascades as well as all the other shops. Staff didn't seem as pushy to upsell. Guest Relations was always easy to get through. Decor (even in Windjammer) seemed to fit the destination... and the abundance of windows everywhere helped to ensure you'd always have a great view when roaming the ship, riding elevators, etc. Good choices on excursions at a variety of price points - so no matter your budget, there's stuff you can do. (Ketchikan Ducks, bus to Mendenhall Glacier, etc for the low). I'd definitely recommend...!

Radiance of the Seas by michelleC68

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Radiance of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Gulf of Alaska

We enjoyed our 7 night Alaskan cruise on the Radiance. The service was awesome!  We had two wonderful waiters, Franc and Zandro, in the dining room. Abdul was our cabin steward. He did a great job as well.

We loved how close the captain got us to Hubbard glacier.

The only area of concern was the spots of rust throughout the ship. There were a few areas were the carpet needed to be replaced but the service and the quality of the food certainly made up for the few areas of wear.

Review of Radiance of the Sea by franlhicks

Ship needs to be updated. Wind jammer buffet needs more vegetable selections, (examples) green beans, Brussels sprouts

carrots and various other vegetables.
