We had a wonderful time. The things that were problems were small and didn't affect our happiness. We love Royal and would cruise with them again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was a little confusing. You had to go up to the upper floor to get a ticket before going back downstairs to board the ship. Overall, that was just minimal confusion. But the facial recognition was fantastic.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The main dining room was great. We went to chops 3 times for lunch during our 2 week cruise. Very good, and we loved it. The buffet was just ok at best. Breakfast was good but lunch and dinner not so much.
Ok, we had the drink package. I caught the severs giving us cheap alcohol that was not the brand I ordered. When you order, they go into a back room to fix your order. My wife and I would order crown and coke from the bar and go sit down. The servers would come ask if I wanted another, and I would ask for another crown and coke. When the server came back, we found that my drink tasted different for her original crown and coke. This happened a lot during our two weeks. Note just order from the bar.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We even tried a few trivia games. Fun but we were terrible bad.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We really enjoyed the house band. Every day on the ship, we would enjoy our drinks while listening to the bands. By far, the most enjoyment activity we had while watching the scenery go by.
We saw to shows in the theater. First was a production of around the world. We really didn't enjoy this one. The second was a juggling/comedy show. We really enjoyed this one.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The main dining room, room steward, and bartenders were fantastic. And we had one server that was true and honest.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Yes, the ship was older, but we felt it was very good.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Cabin 9202 was much easier to turn around my scooter than our first room 3019.
Ship tip
If traveling to AK, do 2 weeks if you can. That way, you can do excursions and see the towns.
