This cruise ship did not live up to our expectations. Alaska was beautiful, excursions were great, but take a different cruise line. Food was worse than school cafeteria in quality and taste. Ship and cabins were clean and nice, beds were hard as bricks.

Review summary

Don't cruise with RC, not worth the money. Ship was not well laid out as "library" was located in centrum which was one of the noisiest and loud areas. Music in this area was excessively loud. Mini golf was in poor shape and sports court was tiny. Too much "family time" in solarium which was supposed to be 18+. Food was probably the worst I've ever had. If it was a local restaurant it would have been out of business.

Disembarkation

Misinformation given on self assist disembarkment. They shoved everyone in the dining room with all of their bags, but didn't see fit to move tables and chairs out of the way. Gangway was not open to self assist at time assigned.

Radiance is a great ship. It does not compare with the new ships but we had no complaints. RC is great! Try another cruiseline, I bet you will be back to RC.

We were originally going on Quantum and switched to Radiance. This was due to ports of call that we wanted to see. I have no other cruises planned. There were no issues with room cleanliness or size. The room attendant was nice. If you like food with no flavor, no salt, chemical tasting raw vegetables, and poor quality meat, then I'm sure the food was good to you.

You say, "Don't cruise with RC, not worth the money," yet on your profile, it shows that you have another RC cruise booked on QuantumOTS.....?!?

I agree with OUSOONERNURSE. We sailed on Radiance and had a great experience. Food, entertainment, stewards and wait staff were outstanding. They fulfilled my request for anniversary decorations down to the letter so that I could surprise my wife when we got back onboard from an excursion in Juneau. Sailing on her again in a few months. GREAT TIME

Sorry for your experience. But every ship is different. I would rather go on a larger RC ship, but they are doing the itinerary we want. So off we go. Looking forward to all of Alaska and the excursions. Whales, train ride, gold panning, lumberjack show, glaciers, waterfalls, and the love of nature. Well, as the food we decided to add specialty restaurants.

“Don’t cruise with RC, not worth the money” is a bit of a sweeping statement considering how many different sizes and classes of ships they have and each one offers a different experience. And no I’ve never sailed on Royal but I wouldn’t slate an entire cruise line due to 1 experience on 1 ship (especially an older ship I think?)

I've sailed Radiance and didn't find any of this to be the case. Yes, the Centrum is loud and active, but there were many other places on the ship to go for quiet. Food was great. Staff were awesome. Cabin and steward were great too. And I never had any "family time" in the Solarium with 9 days of cruising.

Gee. Hope you find something better next time

How much “Family Time” did they allow? Just saying “too much” doesn’t help because that is subjective. Would you prefer zero family time?

Glad you enjoyed your ports of call. Sorry the ship was not up to par.
