Review summary

This was our bucket list cruise to Alaska. We enjoyed this cruise. It lived up to all the hype I have heard about a cruise to Alaska. It was beautiful. The ship was great and the only issue we had was not enough to ruin our cruise. If you have not taken an Alaskan cruise, put it on your list.

Chop's Grille

Great lunch we had on Embarkation Day. The food was great all the way around.

Cafe' Latte-Tudes

Always quick service with a smile. On this cruise we used this venue alot after getting back onto the ship from being off of the ship for our ports we visited.

Cascades Dining Room

Staff was great. Firman and Donald were our waiters and they made our dining experience a really fun experience. They made sure that my daughter who has special needs was always looked after for her dietary needs.

Cabin / Stateroom

So where do I start. We had adjoining cabins, 8604 and 8606. The cabins were great. We loved our balcony size in 8604. With only 2 days left in our sailing we came back to a flooded room. We were moved to room 9632. It was another balcony room but because we have a medically challenged daughter all 4 of us were moved out of our 2 adjoining rooms into 1 room. Royal did their best to accommodate us as best as possible.

Ship tip

Patience is a virtue when using the elevators.

Ports of call

Skagway, Alaska

We didn't do any excursions at this port. We just walked around the area and saw the sights. There were 4 ships in port this day so it was overly crowded but we made the best of it and saw everything we wanted to see.

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

Disembarking was pretty easy. I will say that we were using another company to transfer to Anchorage and the way the port is setup at the baggage terminal creates alot of lines which makes it harder for one to find the company they are using.

Juneau, Alaska

It was raining the day we were there but we were able to get to the Alaska Museum and still walk around and see the areas we wanted to see downtown.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

I had heard mixed reviews on this port. We took the tram ride to the top of the mountain and we loved the ride. We walked around the area ate lunch off the ship and all in all had a good time. I will agree that the length of time at this port is a bit longer than it needed to be. This could be a 6-7hour stop versus a 12hour stop.

Sitka, Alaska

We took the Fortress of the Bear excursion and we enjoyed the excursion. Our driver that took us there was great. Seeing the bears was cool. We spent the rest of our time downtown sightseeing that area. All in all it was a great day. Oh, did I mention it was the first day of no rain?

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

Even though we didn't get off the ship here, it was really cool seeing the Glacier. Pictures do not do it justice.
