Stay away from Royal Caribbean. They are subpar compared to Princess Cruises. This was my second time visiting Alaska and I'm sorry that I picked Royal Caribbean. The ship is nice but the entertainment and dining room service (i.e. reservations, food selections, temperature of the prepared food) was a joke.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Elevator broken, my mom is disabled and we had to walk from one side of the building to the other TWICE because Royal Caribbean does not care about the disabled
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
I'm annoyed that there were very limited choices of meals in the main dining room. The food isn't always hot and the service is slow. We often ate at the Windjammer because the food was piping hot and a much bigger variety
Onboard Activities

This is not the fun ship. They entertainment is sparse and wack. They use a small lounge area where you can see it from several floors by guest services where live music is provided as the major entertainment. The shows are subpar!! Tango Buenos Aires had great dancers but was pedestrian at best. They shows the same kiddy movies over and over again and barely use the outdoor pool area and stage for entertainment. They are slipping when compared to other cruises. The fish from the Alaskan waters should have been exceptional, but it wasn't. NEVER AGAIN ROYAL CARIBBEAN, you Suck!
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Nothing exciting - but the people that did the tango were exceptional.
Children's Programs
Did not need the services because there weren't any children in my party
Service and Staff

Exceptional in the main dining room, Windjammer, and Solarium Cafe
Ship Quality

Loved the look of the ship
Cabin / Stateroom

It was very comfortable and had a lot of space
Ship tip
Don't go unless they are willing to revamp the entertainment and provide spectacular meal choices in the dining rooms
Nothing to do - it was raining the entire time - the excursions were far away. We walked one mile to the totem and then back to go to the bear refuge but it was an uneventful port. We got dropped off at the visitor's center which can't accomodate a big ship and all the visitors. The Russian dance was the only option. NOT INTERESTED
Our 2nd cruise was on the Radiance in 2001. Alaska on May. It was WONDERFUL. A little rain but not enough to spoil anything. My husband and I are of the opinion we are going to enjoy the trip, not sweat things that are sometimes beyond our control and take joy in the wonderful beauty we will see.
Thanks for the review. We’ve always had a good experience with Royal Caribbean and loved our cruise to Alaska on radiance of the seas. The Wi-Fi is not good on any ship since it is satellite-based. If you want less rain in Alaska, cruise in May or June.
