Review summary

This may have been the hardest trip to plan and the hardest way to travel to get to from Florida but it was most definitely worth it. Would do it again. Royal Caribbean is the only way to cruise. They really care about giving great customer service.

Embarkation

Once we got to port, the process is super quick and easy however make sure you follow the instructions given by RCL and there are quite a few steps to take prior to boarding.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The variety in the buffet is excellent. The service by our main dining was above and beyond. The food was pretty good. Chops Grille's food was the best on the ship.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The activities was ok, probably because this was an Alaska cruise and the ship wasn't catered to that. There are only 2 outdoor hottubs and kids weren't allowed at the inside pool....made it difficult to find time to use with the cold outdoors. The kids pool area was small and also due to weather, it was difficult to find time to use. I also think kids with adults should be allowed to use the fitness center especially if since I had kids who goes to after school physical activities 5 days a week. Other than those 2 complaints, the activities was good.

I wished RCL would ban smoking at the Casino.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The bathroom always had the smell of a public restroom but it was kept clean. The room was small for 4 people but the pullman is was a great bonus. Storage was great, wished we had a bigger couch. The toilet needs a bigger seat, it was hard to sit on.

Ship tip

If you have never been to Alaska, plan your outfits well so you don't end up over packing.

Worth it. Absolutely beautiful the whole way.

Ketchikan, Alaska

Port call was a little too short. Walking the trail through Tongass Forest was an amazing walk/hike.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

There is nothing to do here unless you go on an excursion or pay to do something. We walked along the beach and the kids enjoyed building cairns there.

Juneau, Alaska

The was by far the best port. Tracey's is a must go to restaurant to have crab legs. Going to Mendenhall Glacier Park was the highlight of the entire cruise.

Skagway, Alaska

Great place to explore and they also had an outdoor restaurant selling cheap crab legs and good beer places.

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

Amazing views. Wished the ship had more time to stay there.

Seward (Anchorage), Alaska

We didnt get to see Seward. Hopped on a train to go to Anchorage.

Any tips on booking flights from FL? We'll be flying to Anchorage from Tampa or Orlando next summer.
