Was a great trip overall. Could have made it 12 days - didn't need an extra sea day and Toulon. Summer is always crowded and hot but Cunard was great. Last year we did a 10 day cruise on Holland America and Cunard was also pretty good.

Review summary

Was a great trip overall. Could have made it 12 days - didn't need an extra sea day and Toulon. Summer is always crowded and hot but Cunard was great. Last year we did a 10 day cruise on Holland America and Cunard was also pretty good. The fitness center was good, small but good. Not too crowded. The 3rd floor walk around was good but they closed it every day for a couple of hours for maintenance. It was only me and my wife. The first 7 days were very peaceful and in Rome, a lot of people disembarked and new ones boarded and it was a lot of children who were loud and not well behaved in the dining rooms and even during shows - were loud and got their iPads with them. Very disappointing. Waste of a sea day and another day for Toulon. Could have stayed overnight in Rome and another city - would have been a better use of the days. Overall was a great vacation.

Embarkation

Very smooth. 10 times better than last year's mess in Denmark Port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Very good. No complaints on the food.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The fitness center was good, small but good. Not too crowded. The 3rd floor walk around was good but they closed it every day for a couple of hours for maintenance.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The outside entertainment was good. The ship's in-house entertainment became boring after the first 2 times.

Children's Programs

It was only me and my wife. The first 7 days were very peaceful and in Rome, a lot of people disembarked and new ones boarded and it was a lot of children who were loud and not well behaved in the dining rooms and even during shows - were loud and got their iPads with them. Very disappointing.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Very good. Holland America has better service but Cunard is pretty good.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
A little old school but nice and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was changed to 6142 and it was pretty good. No complaints.

5 out of 5
Pompeii was great and so much history.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
Rome is awesome - the heat and the crowds. Not Cunard's fault.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

5 out of 5
Both Pisa and Florence were awesome.

Toulon, France

1 out of 5
Waste of a sea day and another day for Toulon. Could have stayed overnight in Rome and another city - would have been a better use of the days.

Valencia, Spain

4 out of 5
Pretty good city with lots of art.

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

5 out of 5
Very different from other parts of Spain. Worth a visit.

Barcelona, Spain Did not visit port

Already been here before. We disembarked and fly back to the US.

Disembarkation

Was very smooth unlike what we had last year in Denmark with Holland America.
