Review summary

This itinerary is first rate, the ship is excellent, and the food quality and choice rival a four star restaurant. A high percentage of the staff go the extra mile, but there were a larger than expected number of staff that seemed ill trained, even robotic, and more focused on cleaning than attentive customer service. I suspect this is a covid fatigue issue that I hope will get better, as this felt substandard to past Cunard experiences.

Embarkation

4 out of 5

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent Food quality and options in the Brittania Restaurant, the Lido Buffet, and Afternoon Tea

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Trivia and Karaoke hosted by fun and engaging staff, Spa and Pool area were great

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Uneven entertainment, but some were first rate

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
There seems to be a transition issue coming back from COVID. A good percentage of staff felt like they were not trained well, almost robotic, and seemingly more concerned with cleaning and rushing guests out rather than attentive customer service. Others stood out, but they were in the minority.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything was well maintained and the layout allowed for exploration and even solitude if you wanted it

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
there was an issue with noise (metal banging at pretty much all hours of the day and night) from the kitchen service area across the hall (this cabin is below) and it became annoying

Ship tip

the promenade deck is great for walks and watching the scenery

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
A great city as base, lots to explore

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
incredible experience if you've never been to see a glacier

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
wonderful small town vibe, got to watch the 4th of July parade

Juneau, Alaska

4 out of 5
not much to do in town, but the excursions offered make up for it

Cruise Hubbard Glacier

5 out of 5
Stunning, epic experience

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), Alaska

5 out of 5
great whale watching and an incredible zip line

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
a small unique town, the excursions are great, especially the crab feast

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
A nice smaller compliment to Vancouver, good shopping and walkable

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
a little back up getting off the shop and to a cab, but typical I suspect
